Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
Review by Chaosky 900
"Sonic Adventure 2 Port"
Sonic Adventure game marks Sonic's second appearance on a Nintendo console (other than Sonic Advance). This game is basically a port of Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast; but with a little more. In my opinion, SA2B is a whole lot better than SADX. Why? Read along to know why.
Gameplay 9.5/10

Sigh, I'll try to make this short. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is basically Sonic Adventure 2 like I said above, so the 1 Player Story Mode didnt change. Like in the Dreamcast version, you can choose wether to be the villans and destroy the world or to be the Heroes to save the world. Each story has 3 Gameplay elements. The gameplay elements are the same for each side, making a total of 3 gameplay elements. At the end of each stage, there is a ranking given, to show how well you did it. A being the best and E being the worst. I will give each gameplay a rating, just to show you how much I like each element. The gameplay elements are
Sonic/ Shadow - Action Stages 10/10
Their levels are high-speed action stages like in SA/SADX. The stages in this game are longer, making them more fun. Reach the goal, get a higher ranking by scoring more points by making an action link.
Knuckles/Rouge - Treasure Hunt 7/10
Their levels are like Knuckles' levels in SA/SADX. The levels in this game are...HUGE! About 5 times bigger than the treasure hunts in SA/SADX, these are slow paced, unlike Sonic's/Shadow's. Also, this time, the Shards switch places everytime you reset, making it 10 times harder.
Tails/Eggman - Shooting 9/10
Their levels are long shooting levels, like E-102 'y' from SA/SADX. Their pretty fun to do, and long. But it lost the point because Tails isn't in an action stage. I mean, who misses the old Tails flying in the free adventure field?
There are no adventure fields, so when you clear a stage, it continues to the next, with bosses and cutscenes involved. 2P Battle is more improved, with newer characters, and more stages, this is why the word 'Battle' came into SA2B. Chao Karate is introduced in this game, a new Chao fighting game to see which Chao is the strongest. Wait...this isn't the Chao/Replayability section, but what the heck! Getting an A Rank on every stage for the character is really, REALLY hard to do, unlocking everything is fun to do, and Chao are SUPER fun to do. So, overall, the Gameplay in this game is shocking! Tails should be out of his plane and running though x_X
Music/Sound 9.5/10
Dont flame me, I know people think that the music in this game sucks, but me, I dont think so. Sonic's, Tails', Amy's and a little of Knuckles are the same themes except with a different rythym to it. Everybody else's themes are new. The voice acting suits each character's personality (Shadow- deep dark voice, Tails- young child voice..etc.). The sound effects sound a WHOLE lot better. Now, the jump dosnt sound like a 'wong' sound, but instead, sounds like wind. The levels have good music that matches to it, and the events have matching music as well. Knuckles' rapping is bad in my opinion. VERY BAD!! ANNOYING BECAUSE IT IS REPETIVE! Still, the BGMs and SFX are very good.
Story 10/10
The story too, unravels as you progress through the game. First, it starts very simple like this- A dark mysterious hedgehog is falsely accused of being Sonic...simple, no? But it gets more deeper near the end. The Dark Story (Shadow's cutscenes) show memories of the past, unrevealing more and more of the story. Deep, very deep. There is no evil monster in this game (Chaos in SADX/SA), but Shadow (Dark Sonic) is a nice new character added in the series. The ending is so...*sniff*...deep.
Graphics 10/10
WOW! The graphics in this game are excellent. Especially for 2001 standards (the original SA2). The graphics showed the true power of the Dreamcast, making the machines have every last bit of detail, the scenery having enourmous detail, and the character models having details as well. There isn't much improvement in this GCN version, but back then, this was one of the BEST graphics EVER! Still, very good. I'd even say the graphics KO any X-BOX game. So...final Grafiks line- THE GRAPHICS ARE AWESOME! :D
Replayability 10/10
Chao return! Chao return with a vengance! Maybe not. The Chao in this game are SUPER, having the best Virtual Pet System/ A-Life system to date, this earns a perfect 10. The Chao in this game are like the DC version. But more. More Chao hats, more features and especially, the Chao Karate. You can now raise your Chao on the go, transfering to the GBA, this can expand all the horizons of Chao. Chao can give you at least 1000 Hours of Replayability a month...trying to get the best Chao ever, so no more! Chao is the best part of this game (after the story :D). Other than Chao, there is still plenty to do. Get all 180 (!) Emblems to get the ultimate reward, beat the best time, 2P Mode! What is the ultimate treasure for getting all 180 Emblems you say? Well... *gets mouth clugged*...sorry. Cant tell. No spoilers in this review.
Final Line
This game is one of the best games out there on the market. If you dont get it know, you'll miss out on the best Sonic outing to date (Sonic Heroes...I'll think about that), so...here are the scores.
Gameplay 9.5
Music/Sound 9.5
Story 10
Graphics 10
Replayability 10
To buy, or not to buy...
This game is one of the best out there, so...what are you waiting for? Rent it if your not a huge fan of Sonic, but still, this IS the best Sonic game out there (after Sonic Heroes XD), so run out, pay 40 bucks and get this game.
