Beyond Good & Evil

Review by mjfru201

"Zelda Killer? No. Good Game? Yes."

In the past few months the game company, Ubisoft hasn't been talked about at all. Then before you know it they release two outstanding games, Prince of Persia, and Beyond Good and Evil. I was weary at first about getting Beyond Good and Evil but one day I forced myself to. That right there, was one of the greatest video game purchases I've ever made!

Story 10/10
You are Jade, a rebellious action reporter. One day on your planet you get attacked by Aliens/Robots. Now Jade probably knew something about these things because she doesn't seem shocked to see them. After a while she joins a rebel group to save the world (big shock huh?)! Play the game to learn lots more of this amazing story!

Graphics 10/10
The graphics are a mixture of standard 3-D and cell-shading. Everything blends in very nicely with not one flaw at all during the entire game! All enemies have cool designs along with all the other characters in the game including yourself. The environments give you that feel that you are surrounded by a massive living world. All details in the backgrounds are amazing as well!

Sound 9/10
First of all there are amazing sound effects. The hum of your hoverboat, the sound of your weapons smashing into your enemies is utterly amazing. The music fits in perfectly with the game's situation. The menu music though, is kind of odd (reminds me of Tomb Raider II for some reason). Other then that the audio is perfect!

Gameplay 10/10
Now this is the best part of the entire game. First of all let me tell you about the combat system. The combat system is very easy to learn, most of the combos you can pull off by just pressing down the A button a couple of times. When fighting along your partner, you can tell him to slam down on the ground, which will bounce your enemies into the air for you to kill. Some moves you do are also done in bullet time so that gives the combat system yet another cool feature. Now like Grand Theft Auto you have missions to go on. Missions include sneaking around facilities, getting your boat souped up, or rescuing someone. There are also cops that will fine you if you shoot a hovercraft/boat too many times. There is also a photo mode, that you take pictures of different enemies/animals, and you get money for doing that. The photo system is very fun and challenging. So to sum this section up, I have to say the gameplay is flawless.

Replay 6/10
Lets just say some people will want to play this game over and over when some people will be happy finishing the game once.

Buy or Rent?
Buy. Don't be like me and start to think twice about getting this game. I can't believe I did that. If you buy this game I promise you will have a great time playing through it. To add to that it's only $20.00! Go buy this game now.
