Beyond Good & Evil
Review by IsaacLoto77
"10 - 20 Hours of GAMING BLISS and TOTAL PERFECTION!"
Where did Beyond Good and Evil come from? Why, from Ubisoft of course. Ubisoft is responsible for other hits this past year, including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, XIII, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell & Rainbow Six 3. This game comes from the same people that made Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. And the quality shows. Too bad no one bought this game and prices were dropped from $50 to $10-$30. WAIT! That is great news! Because if you find a copy, buy the game!
Graphics: 10/10
This game is so pretty. The polish shines so brightly that you might want to grab a pair of sunglasses before playing. The water effects are beautifully done, and all the character models show that tremendous effort was put into them. The characters themselves show a nice amount of detail. I mean, just LOOK at Pey'j! How can a Human/Pig look THAT GOOD?!?!
Story: 10/10
While it is a typical and rather linear good vs. evil story, you will spend a lot of your time piecing certain aspects of the game together and wondering who you can really trust. A number of plot twists and story changes keep the ball rolling. And a neat little feature is that you have the option of saying a few different things to nearly everyone that you meet.
Gameplay & Control: 10/10
With a similar control set-up to Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy and Star Fox Adventures, Beyond Good and Evil is readily accessible. The gameplay is also fundamentally basic but also rather deep and engaging at the same time. You perform basic staff hits with the A button, while you can you the Y button for your partner to perform a special action. You can also hold A to do a charged attack. What really sets the gameplay apart from all but a few games is the camera. You take pictures of every specie (and I mean EVERY) on the planet and send them to a science center in exchange for money. Every 8 pictures of different species nets you a new item. Units are used to buy health items and boosters. Pearls buy new parts for your hovercraft.
Overall: 10/10
While it isn't an insanely original game, although it really is like no other, Beyond Good and Evil is a beautiful and epic adventure that no gamer should be without. I give it a perfect 10 out of 10 score. Just go out and buy this game.
