Lost Kingdoms II
Review by Stareon
"Not worth buying"
Sure, Lost Kingdoms was good, but Activision and From Software just kind of thought of a sequal with an underdeveloped story, some new gameplay elements, okay graphics, and the worst voice acting and music anyone could stand since Resident Evil, and put on the market as far as I could tell.
Story: 4/10
Lost Kingdoms II takes places 200 years afters the Lost Kingdoms. You are Tara Grimface, a theif with a mysterious past, a Runestone, and cards. She travels with the Band of the Scorpion, a gang of thieves and some other guy named Sol. The story is very underdeveloped and focuses more on sidequests in a bunch of random places that give you cards.
Gameplay: 10/10
The only thing done right. Your cards are still set to A, B, X, and Y. You still have your Weapon, Summons, and Independent monsters. There are a few new things added to the gameplay element, though. There are two new monster types: Helper and Transform. Helpers aid you somehow but don't attack directly, while Transforms turn you into the monster as long as the card lasts. Also, when you use a Summons creature, you can press either A or B to choose an attack before the sequence ends. There are also ''combos'' you can use with certain cards. Your character also does not encounter random battles, making life a lot easier.
Graphics: 7/10
The graphics are good. Tara looks cool, the people look real enough. The environment look almost as real as the people, but you will find an angle or polyline here and there. The camera allows you to zoom in, zoom out, and rotate around Tara, giving you a pretty good look at your surroundings, whether you're moving or not.
Sound: 2/10
The worst thing about this game. The music is bad because it's barely music, even though it's better than in the last Lost Kingdoms. The voice acting is worse because the voice acters do a bad job.
Replayabilty: 1/10
After you do everything: get all the cards, red fairies, do all the sidequests, that's it. End of story. This game has no replayabilty whatsoever.
Overall:2/10
The story part of the game's pretty bad, but it's good to rent and play multiplayer mode with your friends or play when you're bored. If you're that kind of person, that is. If you're the kind of gamer who's going for neat, flashy one-player RPG action, buy a PS2 and Final Fantasy X.
