Pokemon Channel

Review by StayrChee

"It’s some kind of wonderful."

Intro:

By simply reading the back of the case, one might not realize that this game has a little more interaction then just sitting down and watching tv. Now what’s fun about this is the fact that game melds a little R&R with interaction.

Game play:

The game is horribly simple to play. It mainly consists of pointing your “finger” and hitting a button. The game usually tells you what to do if there is an action required to progress the game play. In the event that the game can not go any further, Pro. Oak will inform you that it is “Vital” for you to do something. This can get irritating sometimes, because in order to get new channels, you must watch all the channels labeled as new. But once you do this, you have the ability to not watch a channel ever again if you want. However once you leave the house, you have a little more freedom as to what is “important”. The added requirement for you to get Nice Cards adds a little change of pace to the game, but doesn’t steal form the main game to much. It’s simple, easy, and all around quite fun to do. Even the occasional Mistranslation is still funny, (it’s some kind of wonderful)

Sound:

The music in this game can only be placed as cute, and even catchy. There are however the select few very irritating songs that sound like the same four bars over and over again. The paint mini game that you can play also comes with an array of sounds that get very irritating, but there again, you only have to mess with this once and then you can let it collect dust. The pokemon mini also has some slightly irritating noises but you don’t have to play that either.

Graphics:

Very nice. The textures are smooth and some of the areas are nicely done. The backgrounds however could use a little work.

Control:

Point and Click is the best way I can describe it. The controls are simple and could be operated by almost any young child.

Overall:

The game is easy. The control is easy. This game is easy. But even with that aside it’s still a fun game. Some people of the older audience that play this game would get bored with it most likely in less then a week. But younger kids would get a big kick out of it for a while. The game is fun and can get addictive. I give it, a 7.
