"A typical puzzle game"
Today I will be reviewing Zoocube for the Gamecube. This game is a puzzle game with a gimmick. the blocks are animals.
This adds a twist but doesn't improve this game. It is no Tetris or Coulombs. But don't let that you stop you from buying or renting this game. It is still worth a shot.
The basic storyline is a mad scientist has used the animals to power his death ray and it is up to you to help these poor animals by completing levels.
The basic of the game is to match two identical symbols (which will then release the head of an animal) and getting rid of all of them on your cube to progress to the next level. The thing is that you must use all 6 sides of the cube. This leads to frantic game play.
The graphics are really crisp and clear but they do not use the Gamecube's power. Like NOM uk said ''This would make an ideal game for the N64''. They do not slow the gameplay down but the only use for this is when the animal appears.
The music while playing this game is good to start with but at times become dull or distracting. There isn't that much different style of music while playing so you may be better switching it off. The noises the animal make are spot but don't add to much feel to the game.
The difficulty of this game depends if you've played these type of games before. Veterans will find this not much off a challenge where intermediates and beginners may find this a bit off a challenge when you get pass the first few levels.
So how long will you be playing this game? Well i depends if you can get the hang of it. If you can breeze through it then the other modes will offer nothing more than the same. If you can't get the hang of it then you may just forget about when you buy another game (especially something like Zelda or Mario). But if you willing to play it all the way through then i'll say 2-3 weeks. There really is no replay value.
So is this game really worth £40 of my hard earned money. Well, Nope. As NOM uk said ''This game is good but not worth £40''. And it really should've been on the N64. Then it could been consider to be a excellent game. I did like it and played it for a couple of weeks but then I bought Mario so this game is collecting dust.
Recommendation: Rent or buy it when the price is lowered.
Enjoy!
