True Crime: Streets of LA

""Good Lord They Shootin At Me... A Smile on My Face Cuz I'm Trigger Happy"
Introduction:
My first review, and I pick this game. A cop on suspension, then being begged back into the force... What a funny start. With a mix of events going on, you'll have to take on murderous gangs, bunch of street thugs, lunatics, hookers, arms dealers, and anything that disrupts the peace of L.A.
Though this game is highly compared to GTA, I'll point out some of my opinions/comparisons of this game, and GTA.
Gameplay: 9/10
This is the score I would give this game for gameplay, compared to GTA: VC. The shooting is a lot better since it has an auto aim without having to press any other buttons. The fighting is also a lot better compared to GTA, since this game, you have a mix of combos to choose from, a different set of moves, and more compared to GTA's slow reaction to a punch and kick, punch and kick.
The driving, is a little similar, but In my own opinion, it over rules GTA by a bit. My reasons why? In GTA: VC, when you were to ''accidentally'' collide with another car, you would most likely spin and have to take up so much time trying to recover, which can screw you over in Timed Missions. In this game, if you were to collide into a car or a wall, you would probably bounce and have quicker time to recover.
Another thing that bothered me about the driving in GTA, was the turning. Though the turns are good, when you let go of ''Accelerate'', they aren't as great, compared to GTA since in this game, they're more perfect in the turning, and even out with the road. In GTA, you can use the ''Brake'' Button in high speed driving to do sharp turns. You can do the same with this game, except, in GTA, it leaves you slippin out a bit, due to the friction of the tires, while in this game, if you were to do a slide, the friction of the tires, seem to hold.
Plus the roads in this game are much wider than in GTA: VC, and shooting out of a car in True Crimes, is a LOT better because of the Auto Aim.
Story: 7/10
Nothing to big, a suspended cop being begged back into a special divisions force, you have to solve some crimes and learn the truth about your father, Henry Wilson.
Graphics: 9/10
A major change, compared to GTA. Some of the people in GTA, sorta looked like they were from a comic book or something(IMO), while in this game, they just look a whole lot better. A great example if you've seen the commercial for this game, is the picture of Snoop Dogg in the commercial for this game. Compare it with that picture, and an actual picture of him, and they look like twins.
Sound: 10/10
Ok, I like Rap Music and generally dislike a MAJORITY of Rock, Alternative, Grunge, or whatever, but in this game and certain environments of this game, made that type of music enjoyable. Though the majority of Rap is high, and the majority of Rock is low, in my own opinion, the musics that were put in this game, were fit enough to enjoy the music, depending on what you are doing on that level.
Replay Value: 8/10
In my own opinion, this game had lots of replayablity, due to the Story Branches, Multiple Endings, and a few of the incentives. Although this game is a bit short, if you are creative, you can build up much fun in this game, like running away from Cops while they chase you. For others, the Replay might be poor, because of lack of imagination, but if you can be creative, bam, you'll love the replayability.
Overall: 8/10
This game is a bit short, and not a lot of missions compared to GTA, but the gameplay, graphics, and some of the other personal stuff, have improved, compared to GTA. In my personal opinion, if you were to put the Pros of this game and the Cons, they would just about even out. If anyone cares, I've played the Xbox version of GTA: VC, so there might be different similarities to the PS2 version of VC.
Rent or Buy?
I would say buy... But since everyone has different tastes, I would most likely choose rent over buy if you have played GTA 3 and GTA: VC, so you don't think you wasted your money on this game.
