Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde
Review by samuellee60
"Command your goblins!!!"
Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde is a real-time strategy, or RTS for the PS, XBOX and the Gamecube. For those of you who don't know, an RTS is a form of game when you mine gold, harvest forests and such to create defenses, villages, and armies to overrun and conquer your opponents. An RTS is probably one of the best styles a video game could have, and Goblin Commander proves it. Goblin Commander features a unique campaign mode, with a variation of five different clans to play around with ( Strombringer, Stonekrusher, Hellfire, Plaguespitter and Nighthorde). Also featured is a two-player mode, which can also provide plenty of fulfilling entertainment for you and your friends.
Controls 10/10
The controls for Goblin Commander are very easy to get the hang of and are not in the least confusing. Hardcore RTS fans will fall in love with them instantly, compared to the challenging, hectic PC RTS controls.
Graphics 8/10
There is no RTS game with flawless graphics, and alas, Goblin Commander is no exception. However, that doesn't mean that Goblin Commanders' graphics are bad, heck no. Since there is a small unit amount, there is no lag or any glitches, bringing out the finer created details in the game. If your tired of Age of empires, or Empire Earth lagging because your 100-man calvary is raiding nearby towns, then welcome to paradise. the graphics are very-well balanced, leaving behind a memorable RTS game.
Music 8/10
Have you ever stopped just to feel the beat or vibrations of drums and brass instruments? Well, try it here. I know the music doesn't excel, but it's pretty dang good. The battle sound effects and squeals of goblins getting smashed into itty-bitty pieces is nicely thrown in too.
Gameplay 10/10
The game, overall, is awesome. Although Goblin commander supplies us with a short campaign, leaving much to be desired, that doesn't mean you can't go crazy with your shamans, Croppers, Conjurers or Acolytes. Or who could forget the Bile Spitters? Even though there is a limited amount of units, 10 to be exact, there is a good mix of goblins, their weapons and abilites. The goblins, however, pail in comparison to the superior Titans. The Titans catapult the gameplay into a ten. with the ability to control your strongest unit (titan) and send him into a wild thrash, by smashing
Overall Rating 9/10
Overall this game is really good. Hardcore RTS fans, Goblin Commander might not be for you, and you should consider renting first. NOTE: I said ''MIGHT''. I'm a hardcore RTS fan and I loved it. Beginners are sure to get a kick out of the story and the easy controls, having no problem at all sending goblins into suicidal frenzies in the multiplayer mode. This game is a nice one to add to any gamers collection.
