"More medabots more power."

Medabots Infinity also known as Medarot Brave is a 3rd person real time puzzle/action/collecting game made by Natsume and was brought to America in December of 2003. This game is very well done despite certain faults it has.

Story:7/10 The story is basic, nothing huge. You get a ticket to go to an amusement park called Toru-Toru land. Well while on his vacation at the robattle park Ikki (The main character of the game and the anime) runs into the notorious Rubber-Robogang (A bunch of goof offs in black rubber suits with antennas) who are up to no good. So guess who's job it is to beat the Rubber-robos? You guessed right its you and Ikki's job to beat em once again. I know it sounds dull but it is funny at points and worth playing through it.

Graphics:5 out of 10. Yes the graphics in this game are mediocre. The actual robots are somewhat blocky and not well done. They definitely did not test the potential of the gamecube with this game. Certain things like the backgrounds and certain placed objects are well done though. So don't count the game out just because the robots look bad.

Gameplay:7 out of 10: Medabots infinity could definitely have worked on the gameplay and control for this game play some more. In the actual robattle/ stage part of the game you walk around using the control stick to move around the areas..and probably hit into the invisible walls that seem to exist EVERYWHERE in this game. To use the medapart you wish you must press the c stick up to activate head, right to activate right arm, or left to activate the left arm. Then you must press B to use them. Each medapart has its own specific use as some shoot missiles (Heavy damage, somewhat hard to hit with) some shoot bullets (fast, medium damage) or lasers (Slow charge time, heavy damage) and some are swords(Close, medium damage but fast moving) and so on. Some do not even do attacks, some help you out by adding defense or concealing your head part. The whole medaparts is what makes this game truly unique as you can make over 500 possible combinations of medaparts to complete the levels with. The Y button makes you defend yourself from incoming attacks. And the R button makes you do a pathetic jump which is effective about maybe one out of every twenty times. The X and Z button does absolutely nothing. While the controls are somewhat akward to get used to the actual gameplay is hard to get used to. The game is very slow. Also the jumping is used multiple times to collect points and objects so avoiding falling into a puddle of water or into a bottomless pit or moving out of the way of an incoming boulder and hitting into a wall can make the game very annoying. Each level is a huge puzzle that has random walls blocking your path and having random bottles/ switches to hit to find your way through. Each level is big and can take anywhere from 6 to 45 minutes.(If you are slow like me and like to collect just about everything in a level and examine every route possible). This makes the game both fun and also makes you want to hit your head against your TV by the end as you will be constantly running into dead ends or getting killed when near the end by a ruthless cannon,or a river you accidentally touched with your foot. And guess what you must start ALL OVER AGAIN. This is just some of the fun things as you must complete each level multiple times if you want to collect every medapart in the game. That is all I have to say about the actual gameplay and controls of Medabots infinity.

Sound:9/10. Magnificent is the only thing I can say about the music to each level of the game. I will constantly kill myself purposely in the game to go back to the beginning of the ice levels to listen to the incredible music. Each level (or most at least) has an orchestra type music that is just beyond words. The only reason this is not getting a perfect ten out of ten is because of the horrible voice acting used for this game. They make Ikki sound like a girl (Despite his real voice actor from the show being a girl at least she could make him sound like a young boy) and Metabee....I cried when I heard Metabee's voice in this game.

Over-all Calculated 7/10
The game has some flaws but it is still pretty fun to play, despite it being alittle undeveloped in certain areas (graphics).
Buy or Rent: Good look finding this game to rent,I have not seen a single west coast/block buster/game rental store that owns this game.. So if you can find a copy of it then rent it. If you are a fan of the actual show and don't mind some frustration and like puzzle/collecting games then go out and buy this game. You won't be disappointed.
