Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee
Review by The Underweartaker
"It reeks of Awesomeness"
Godzilla is back, and in video game form. Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee is a combination of fighting action. It features the best Godzilla monsters from the many movies, and puts them in head to head combat with one another. Now lets get to the review!!!
GRAPHICS- The graphics for Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee are incredibly realistic, or sometimes better that the Godzilla's you see in the movies. For one thing, the way the buildings fall when you hit them or attack them is a very good feature. The facial and body features are lifelike to the movies. Even though you can tell right away that they are video game graphics, they are about as real as your going to get.
SOUND- The sound of Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee is the one of the games real strong points. Each monster roars jut like they do in the movies. The announcer for each match introduces the monsters very well, and declares the winner of the fight almost as good. The explosions and demolitions of the buildings are exellent. The sound is definately a part of this game that you shouldn't take for granted.
GAMEPLAY- Finally we come to the reason why Eighty-five percent of you read the review in the first place... THE GAMEPLAY!!! The gameplay is without a shout of a doubt the strongest part in Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee. The game modes are Versus mode, Adventure mode, Survival mode, Melee mode, Team battle, and Destruction. Versus is just your typical, every day one on one fight. Adventure is when you pick a monster, and go into 8 fights(one at a time) against various monsters. Survival is basically the same thing, exept it's not over until you lose. Melee is a free for all battle, nothing special. Team battle is exactly that, a team fight. Destrustion is a contest between 2 to 4 players. This game contains eleven monsters. You start with Classic Godzilla, Angirus, and Megalon. You have to unlock Godzilla 2000, King Ghidorah, Mecha King Ghidorah, Rodan, Destroyah, Gigan, MechaGodzilla(I don't think that these are spoilers because they are in the istruction booklet, and on the back of the box). There is also a Secret monster that I can't tell you about(Which is not in the booklet, or on the box). Each monster has their own moveset and even their own Special attacks. There are also many different cities in the game. They include Tokyo, Osaka, Los Angeles, London, Seattle, and San Francisco. The cities even include landmarks that are really in those cities. There is even Monster Island, where Godzilla comes from. There is also a secret arena which I cannot tell you about(it would be a spoiler). You even have the abitity to choose wheter you want to fight in the daytime, or in the night time. During each fight, there are powers all over the place for you to pick up. The include the Rage Power, the energy power, the health, and The Mothra air strike power. Rage power helps you do your special attack that I mentioned earlier. Energy gives you more energy. Health power ups restore you health(there are no health power ups in Survival mode, so your on you own for that). Mothra power ups make Mothra(a big moth monster) come down to help whoever picked up the power. But remember, the power ups can also help you opponent, so watch out for that too.
OPTIONS- Like every other video game ever made, Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee has an option mode. You can choose the language of the game(English, Spanich, German, French, or Italian). You choose the dificulty you want the game to be in(easy, medium, or hard). You change the number of rounds fought in each battle. You can change the number of minutes for each round. You can also choose if you want the buidings to stay destroyed between each round, or if you want them to reset and become fixed again between each round. Then there is the ''Rules'' section of the Option menu. Here, you decide the time limit and Round number for fights in each mode. In the ''Sound'' section of the options menu, you can adjust the voice of the announcer, and the sound of the music. The ''Stats'' section of the Options lets you look at the ten best efforts for each mode. The ''Controller'' section lets you decide whether or not you want the controller to rumble when you get attacked by another monster.
CONTROLS- The controls of Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee are fairly easy. You press A to punch, B to kick, X to do a fierce attack, and Y to block. You can also use Z to charge, and release Z to do a beam attack(if you have enough energy). Press A+B tro grab things(Monsters, buildings, ect.). B+X to do a rage attack(after you pick up a rage power up). Overall, good controls.
BUY OR RENT- If your a big fan of Godzilla, your obviously going to want to try this game out. If your not, you most likely not going to want to try it out. Rent first then buy it if you like it.
OVERALL- I gave it a 10/10. I really enjoyed this game, and hopefully, you will too.
