"Yugioh in new RPG form"

Intro:
This is a good RPG for gamecube, almost an RTS. The Yugioh games have been a bit of a disapointment so far, atleast to me, but this one shines through. The producers decided to take a different twist with the Yugioh world, and it is for the better. Note: My friend Altevin will be helping me with this reveiw, but he stops after a certain point.

Story:
5/10 (Benandorf)
I think the story is pretty good, even though it is a bit cliched, and not very original. The Story is the old Rebellion vs. Empire, but with a twist. There is no set sides for either, and you meet old characters along the way, as well as a few EXTRA things. I give it a 5/10.-Benandorf

6.5/10 (Altevin)
While on the surface this is the average Civil war story, it takes several interesting twists a few levels in. Without saying too much, it's called Kaiba's campaign, not the imperial campaign. Another dimension is added to the story as well, with the fact that the whole world is a simulation run by a former Kaiba corporation employee. However, this is not the overused and extremely aggrivating ''training simulation'' storyline. Rather, the real world carries another storyline which influences events in the game. And watch for the freakiest expression you have EVER seen on Pegusus's face around mission 3 on

Kaiba's campaign.

GamePlay:
8/10 (Altevin)
Gameplay isn't capitalized like that foo! Anyway, the gameplay falls into a genre of it's own, a fusion of RPG and RTS elements. The empire-building portion is barely worth mentioning though. You get gold for liberating (or subjugating) cities. You can only build two structures per city, but it is cool to see the cannons fire off when an enemy team gets too close. Again, a bit skimpy in that area, but otherwise a well-rounded game. The one thing that could improve the battle system is to give the monsters more then one attack, as they get old FAST. At least the magic system dosen't completely stink...

10/10 (Benandorf)
This is the GREATEST part of this game. You have Marshalls that can lead up to 3 monsters, called a team, and you send them to attack citys, defend your own, get more monsters on your team, and general STUFF. The citys can have up to 2 different buildings, that can do anything from allow you to buy rare items, to heal you, to shoot things. The begining of missions can be hard and tedious, as it almost always makes you fight about 6 enemy marshalls right away, but after that, it gets better. The battles are fun and colorful, but can get tedious because they are just a boring RPG fighting, nothing really to spice it up, other then the ocasinal speical move. One other small problem is that alot of the attacks are just the same graphics with a different color, so they can be redundent. But the gameplay, over all, is superb. I give it a 10/10.-Benandorf

Sound:
4/10 (Benandorf)
The sound, while pretty good, isn't that great. It is repetitive, the same battle music, the same map music, the same boss music, so that I only really notice the music when it goes to or from a battle, and changes. The monster sound effects are awesome, but not good enough to save the entire score in this area. I'm not saying the music is bad, just a bit bland and repettitive. I give it 4/10.-Benandorf

4/10 (Altevin)
They obviously didn't spend much time on this. The overworld music, while intended to be relaxing, generally has an unsettling effect. The battle music is interesting the first time around, but after that you'll find yourself tuning it out. The sound effects for the battle moves aren't bad, but they aren't good either. There's just not much to talk about here.

Graphics:
9/10 (Benandorf)
If Gameplay is the best part of the game, this is a close second. VERY Close. These graphics are awesome, they take the yugioh univese and make it into great 3d RPG/Stratagey game. The attacks are a bit redundent, and the maps can get slightly boring, but it will keep you busy for a LONG time.

Overall:
8/10 (Benandorf)
This game is a great game, esecially for those who like RPGs. This is one of the only consule games of this type to make it through. I highly recomend this game, as it is easy to learn, but can have a challenge to all players.

Rent or Buy:
Buy (Benandorf)
This game is LOOOOONG! There is no way you can beat it in a week, or probobly even a month. I say buy it, but if you want, you may want to rent it to make sure you like it first.
