Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde
Review by helloiforgotmyname
"Attack! Wait...gotta load first."
I bought this game recently at a GameCrazy store, but that's a little off topic. Ok, let's get to basics! What should you look for in this game? Well, looking at the back of the case you could see that you can control goblins and attack stuff with them. Sounds cool right? It has its draw backs. I'll get into that later.
Let's start off with what I and most other's did like about this game!
1. You can control armies of goblins and attack other things like other goblin clans and other enemies.
2. You can select 5 different clans to choose from in most cases. Each having it's own qualities. Each one is good against one and bad against one and the other 2, is equal with.
3. Each clan has 5 different main units. 2 melee units and 2 long ranch and 1 support unit that boosts a certain quality like defense or armor.
4. Awesome multiplayer mode(Explained Later)
5. Long 1-player campaign mode!
Now onto the bad things. Not very many of these but they are big things.
1. Get's a little repetative after a really long time
2. REALLY LONG LOADING TIMES! (caps) (Explained Later also)
Ok, so if you're still not sure whether to get it check out these more in-depth descriptions of a few things.
Multiplayer Mode: Amazing. Truly Amazing. You can control up to 3 different clans and how much money you start with and a few other things. Big Stage Selection so you know where you want to play. Choose which units you want unlocked.
Here are a few drawbacks to it though. Screen split making it harder to see, and you can see what your oppenent is doing.
Loading Times: Very long. Takes almost a minute to load the main screen and about another minute for each scene of story and before where you get to play. The bar almost stops everywhere.
Graphics: 7/10-Very good Graphics. Could use a little work in some places. Especially when you zoom in on a place. Smooth edges and many small bits of doodads and things like that! Very Nice!
Sound: 8/10-Pretty good! The goblins have their own language which is translated at the bottom. Although, they goblins need more sounds for when you get hurt or something. You always here the same thing. Although, whenever a big one hits a little one it goes flying and screams really loud. That always makes me laugh.
Replay Value/Playability: 7/10-Good Replay value since there is multiplayer. The story might get old, but there are always other things to do.
Controls: 9/10-Easy to maneuver.
Overview: Here's what the point of the game is. You control your goblins around and kill some other clans. You get gold for destroying buildings and boulders. Also, you get souls for finding soul fountains and from killing other units. The souls help you build more units and the gold helps you upgrade, build things, and unlock more units. You can have up to 10 main units for each clan on the field and 1 of each bigger unit. (Ex: Stone Giant)
Final Recomendation: Rent this game before you buy it. Some people would like it and some wouldn't. I would buy it for no more than 25 dollars new or used, but if you can't find it for less than 25 then get it for whatever price it is. It's worth it!
