Resident Evil Code: Veronica X

Review by AJM Ruler

"Still the best Resident Evil"

This is a review for Resident Evil: Code Veronica X for the Gamecube. After I had beaten the original Code Veronica on the Dreamcast, I was skeptical on how it translated to the Gamecube 2-3 years later. I was amazed on how it had done everything to improve on like graphics plus Gamecube got the X which the PS2 version got.

Graphics: (10) What can I say of a port of the PS2 version? I can say it improved a lot since PS2 had so many problems. The character models and monsters all look fantastic. The environments are huge and full of life. The fire and explosion effects are pretty much flawless. Everything that was on the Dreamcast and PS2 version are here and more.

Sound: (10) As in every Resident Evil game, you get the same creepy music and very fake gunshots, but that is why I love the sound in here. The intense music got me intense and my heart pumping. Plus the voice acting has improved since past REs always had trouble with the voice acting.

Game Play: (10) Game Play in CVX is the same as in the DC and PS2 versions, nothings changed, nothing new....which is disappointing. You have everything the same, but I did like the new extra cut-scenes that come with the X version. Battle mode is the best, I loved playing as Wesker with only a knife, so much challenge. But still I would have liked something new, but zilch.

Storyline (If any): (10) Heart-pounding stories is what Resident Evil is ALL about. When you think of Resident Evil, you think of Story and Action, this game is nothing different. It covers up plot holes from past REs and helps move the story along VERY nicely.

Summary: (10) A perfect 10 is my verdict. To all who own a Gamecube and yearn for some Mature games, than I would say get this game now! To all the action lovers and people who just love a good story, get this game! Anyways, any local game store should be selling this at around $30, so I say get it now before it is gone!
