Mystic Heroes
Review by abyssalrogue00
"An average game worth a try if you like the genre."
Let me be honest, I was very excited about this game from the second I saw the preview in Gamepro. For the main part, it was made by Koei, creators of the awesome Dynasty Warriors series. Either way, I bought this game before I even read the reviews. I still didn't regret it though.
CONTROLS 7/10
The controls in this game are quite simplistic, but they fit the game very well. Pretty much, this is a button masher. The combos and magical attacks are quite easy to pull off. Any gamer could pick this up and kick ass at it.
GRAPHICS 8/10
This game has very pretty visuals. The characters are cool and chibi and brilliantly animated, and the movies look really cool.(almost anime-like)
SOUND 4/10
The music in this game is not very good. It is the same damn song over and over and over. Sure, the song sounds okay the first couple of times you hear it, but it quickle gets annoying. The voice acting sucks, I can't describe it any other way. The characters sound like whiny 7 year olds.(which they probably are) I reccomend you listen to your own music while playing this game. Even through the movies.
STORY NO IDEA/10
Since it is made by koei, it is(obvoiusly) made after a chinese legend of some sort. Honestly, I have no idea what the story is about. But its apparently not very good, since it didn't keep my attention.
GAMEPLAY 6/10
This game is based around killing every opponent on the battle field. It's difficulty level is generous, but more annoying than anything because There is no way to heal yourself besides destroying more enemies while praying they have hp. There are four characters, each having their own strengths and weaknesses. Your overall defense and hp can get very high though, if you kill the enemies and look in all of the vases. Also, there are a rediculous amount of runes, which are basically combinations of the same magical attacks that are either stronger or weaker than the others. If you want this game to be easier, collect every rune possible. The multiplayer is okay, but me and my friends got tired of it after about an hour.
OVERALL 6/10
This game is pretty average, and will keep your attention for about a week. After one playthrough, most likely you will get tired of it.(unless you want to unlock extras)I let my friends have a go at it, and they all beat it in about two days. And now for the final question. "Should I rent or buy this game?" Rent it first, and if you like it, purchase it. Although, if you find it really cheap and you like beat em ups, buy it. Hope this helped.
