Worms 3D

"The Worms are Insane!"

Worms 3D is the first time the popular PC Worms series is brought to the gamecube in full 3D. I'm happy to say that the fun of Worms is still present in Worms 3D.

Gameplay: 8/10
When you start you get to pick from three modes. There's Quick Start, where you just start with a random team in a random level. There's Campaign Mode, where your team of worms go to different locations and try to kill the opposing team, or collect items, or whatever it tells you to do. The best mode hands down though is Mulitplayer. Grab three friends, and go in an all out Worms war! The good thing about multiplayer is that you can randomly generate the levels, so you never play the same game twice! The weapons are great, and a little strange. You can throw an exploding pigeon at someone!!!! All the classic stuff is still there, like choosing your worms voice, naming your worms, picking a flag, and a gravestone. I only had two slight problems with the gameplay. The A.I sometimes gets annoying, because the opposing team knows exactly where you are. The other bad part is the minor bad camera angles. Worms 3D stays classic, and survives the gameplay department.

Graphics: 7/10
The graphics are very cartoon like, but I don't think it would have been better any other way. The worms look alright. I just wish you could create your own worms look, because every worm looks the same. The facial expressions of the worms are very well done. You can tell exactly what the worms are feeling. The levels are excellent, because you can blow up EVERYTHING in the level. The levels look great. The only other problem is the glitches you will see a lot. One is that you will see a worm stretch out all the way through the level, then go back to normal. The graphics overall are alright.

Sound: 8/10
The sound is hilarious. You can choose from over 25 different kinds of voices for your team of worms. Every voice is funny!! The sound effects are also very well done, and equally funny. The only down side is that the opening title screen sounds somewhat like a SNES game.

Controls: 9/10
The controls are perfect, and I couldn't have asked for a better set up. The only thing I don't like is that you only use one controller in multiplayer, and have to keep passing it around.

Rent or Buy?
Worms 3D is a must own for anyone who is looking for an addicting, fun, and hilarious strategy game. It's a good addition for anyones collection.
