Mario Party 6

Review by stepalicious

"Pretty much the same... Not always a bad thing though..."

Mario Party 6, of the Mario Party series, is a good game. It takes the old stuff and mixes it with a bit of new stuff, and the result is something pretty good.

Gameplay- 10/10
This game is decent. It's fun to play on your own, and even better with 2 or 3 other people. The game is pretty easy, easy concept and easy overall. The controls are different for every mini-game, but they're also easy to learn and pick up with like five seconds of practice. This game introduces the new microphone peripheral, and I must say, they did it pretty well. Sometimes the mic mixes up your directions and you really have to say everything loud, clear, and slow for it to really work, but I think they did pretty good for the first game with the mic. But hey, it's not a major part of the game and you get it free, so why complain?

Story- 5/10
You wouldn't really play a Mario Party game for a story... Well it's basically about the sun and moon doing something or other... I don't remember it without looking at the box or something, so you know it can't be that great or memorable... But once again, an MP game is not something you'd play for a story.

Graphics- 10/10
The graphics are nicely done. A nice blend of color, and it doesn't look blocky or anything. They're not the greatest, they're not the worst, but they're pretty good and they'll do just fine. I'm not a videophile or anything really, but I think they're pretty good.

Sound- 10/10
There's nothing really great or terrible about the sound. Nothing to complain or praise, so I'll just give it a 10. Just the same nice goofy music of the Mario Party series and stuff...

Playtime/Replayability- 9/10
This game can last you a long while if you're a real fan of the Mario Party series. There are a ton of things to unlock, like extra characters, over 100 mini-games, new levels and such. The multiplayer is where the game really shines. There's nothing really that compells you to play though, only something to do if extreme boredom strikes. But it'll still last you a long time if you stick with it until you completely finish.

This game is more of a buy than a rent. You should definitely look for it, but maybe wait for a price drop. It's for sure worth getting, but you'll live just fine without it. Overall, Mario Party 6 is great game, just not the best out there...
