Mario Party 6
Review by hydrowaterfall
"Mario Party 6 is the 6th Installment and is the best yet!"
The 6th installment to the seemingly endless series blasts it's way onto the Gamecube, better than ever.
Story: 9/10
The Sun and the Moon have always hosted the Parties in Mario Party land, but one day, Brighton, the sun, asked Twila, the moon ,whose more impressive. This started a huge fight, and Mario came up with a stellar idea to fill the Star Bank so that maybe, just maybe, Brighton and Twila can settle their differences. It's an excellent story, but the cause of the feud may have been better.
Gameplay:10/10
Gameplay, Ah the gameplay, Mario Party games have always have good gameplay and this just takes the cake. For one thing the story rolls into the gameplay beautifully and ties it all in one knot.
Party Mode, the main place you want to go to have a party ,consists of 5 boards and 1 unlockable one. These boards have stellar themes, and what's more Night/Day effect them. Every 3 turns, it will switch form Day to Night and vice-versa, changing gaming elements, characters, and even spaces. What's more, the mini-games are also well-affected, some of the rules completely change while some have just average Day/Night features. Finally, the movement around the board has been greatly increased making your turn come around faster. A definite improvement over the previous installments.
In Solo Mode(Not Story Mode), a one player game is invoked. Move as slowly as you can on a 1 Player board and play mini-games against the Evil Koopa Kids, collect Coins an earn a bundle of stars. Solo Mode has challenges and bonuses and is really a blast, for playing alone. These Stars that you get can be used to buy a bunch of things in a Star Bank. Buy a character, secrets, a mini game, a board, pages to a pop-up book and a lot more!
The mini-games in this installment, are a lot more fun. They have dramatically shortened the amount of Luck mini-games meaning more skill games for us. The amount of mini-games is also very high, and there are several mini-games that'll keep you hooked for quite some time.
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics in Mario Party 6 are really fresh and smooth. The background graphics have been improved dramatically and is really eye-catchy. The characters are still the same as the previous installment, with more fluid animations. The characters could have been improved if they had used different models and didn't use the same old ones.
Sound: 10/10
The sound is completely beautiful in this game. New character speeches have been added making the characters seem more new and fresh. The other sound effects are also well done, whether the characters are jumping or running it all flows beautifully. The music is EXTREMELY good. It's catchy and will stick in your head and before you know it you'll be humming the songs everywhere.
Buy or Rent
Absolutely a Buy for Mario Party lovers. This epic sequel will keep you hooked especially if you have friends or family members to play with. If your not a fan of the series, it's still good for a rental. This game is a Must-Try!
