"Despite what people have said, I think this is a very good game."
The moment I bought this game for ten bucks, i could not stop playing it. There is a mixture of great offbeat humor, lots of extremely hard puzzles, and great levels.
Graphics: 7.5/10
Not the best graphics I've ever seen, but definitely not the worst. Great animation, not too many visible pixels, and the characters actually look like people. The only problem is sometimes when too much stuff is going on in the game, it tends to slow down quite a bit. Also. people sometimes kind of move like robots. Not bad, though.
Sound: 10/10
There are great sound effects, great dialogue from the people, and lots of gunfire and explosions. The music that comes on during Hero Time is hilarious. John says some of the funniest stuff while you're playing, and enemies say stuff when they think you are not looking. Great computer I.Q. by the way.
Control: 8/10
The conrtrol is smooth and swift, but can sometimes get annoying when trying to aim at certain things. The buttons are simple: R=Fire, Y=Jump, X=Crouch, A=Action, L=Aim, Y+Z=Hero Time.
Gameplay: 9/10
Very fun gameplay. Not what I expected when i bought it. The running around and putting a gun to people's heads and taking them hostage is very cool. The Hero time is cool. Hero time is where if you rescue enough people, your Hero bar goes up and you press Z+Y at the same time, and you go into Hero Mode, where everything is in slow-motion and your basically invincible. It's kind of like bullet time from Enter The Matrix. There are some very interesting levels in this game such as going undercover in a prison, and going to a tuna factory where gangs have been meeting. Altogether its a fun game.
Fun Factor: 9/10
All out pure fun. Except for the few extremely excruciatingly hard puzzles you will encounter throughout the levels.
Replay Value: 5/10
Its not GTA, but it's big.
Overall: 9/10
Buy or Rent?:
Definitely buy cuz it's only like ten bucks at Gamestop.
