Mega Man X: Command Mission
Review by Rahanyou89
"Fight, X!"
While I may not be a Megaman X veteran, I know what makes a good video game. And Megaman X: Command Mission has most of them covered.
To kick things off, music is essential to an RPG like this. It gives the game a sort of aura, you know? With the Techno and semi-Trance music styles, the player can get the idea of a character's personality or the semi-ominous-but-still-has-a-good-tune enemy bases. From the tough attitude around Steel Massimo or the electric guitar opening to Zero's theme, I could go on...
The character personalities are a plus in games like this. While some RPG heroes have a Silent Leader, but rather monotone attitude, MMXCM has heroes with a whole variety of personas, with some good voice-actors performing excellent dialogue on the cutscenes and battle cries. Personally, X sounds vaguely similar to Irvine from Zoids: Chaotic Century. But that's just me.
Gameplay is simple, but it can get tedious at times. Seeing as you can't go like 10 steps without going into a battle in certain areas, but you can always run away if you want to save your Sub Tanks for future boss battles. The Hyper Mode gives the playable characters a rather dangerous feel. While X Fire and Quicksilver appear to be the most powerful modes, Axl and Spider's Stealth Mode and Trickstar and everyone else's recolors are just as powerful. Take note that when Cinnamon gets to be at a high level, her Iron Maiden mode is nothing to laugh at.
Just because a game has awesome graphics doesn't mean it's a great game, right? Au contrare. Look at the Wind Waker, it has a kiddie look, but it's an awesome game! In MMXCM, you just can't beat graphics when it comes to the Final Strike, Massimo's Action Trigger, or the Hyper Mode transformations. Put that and everything else together, and you've got a pretty darn good game.
Overall, Megaman X: Command Mission is a good game, with some things that need some changes, but it's a good game nonetheless. It's worth your money if you're a big Megaman fan, so get out there and SHOOT THE BADDIES INTO OBLIVION, BABY! YEAH!
