"Flawless Victory as they say..."

Mortal Kombat is a series thats been around for a decade and always brings something new to the fighting genre
Story 9/10

The story picks up immediately where Mortal Kombat deadly alliance left off. However it introduces alot of aspects to the story you never would have even known happened until you got this game. It also appears that alot of the characters endings from deadly alliance weren't true. Also the bad guys. Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, the former Deadly Alliance, actually win, and have conquered over Raiden's champion's of Earthrealm in Mortal Kombat, and now are preparing their control of all realms. Only one thing stands in the way... and that is Raiden. This games opening movie ROCKS, the cgi is not only well done but the fighting is amazing as well, you will think your watching a movie..a really short one though. You will watch Raiden fight Quan Chi and Shang Tsung in mortal kombat as a last defense. Raiden is defeated though, and it seems as Quan Chi and Shang Tsung are unstoppable in their conquest. But there hunger for power takes over them as they fight each other . Quan Chi proves hes better in the fight with Shang Tsung. But unknowingly Reptile has stumbled upon the Legendary Ancient Dragon King's egg, and the Dragon King has taken over his body and is now back to reclaim his power over the realms as he once did. Quan Chi, Shang Tsung and Raiden form an alliance out of desperation and fight the Dragon King. The Dragon King is to powerful for them, as a last resort Raiden self-destructs himself out of desperation onto the Dragon King. This fails, and Raiden, Quan Chi, and Shang Tsung are presumably dead, and the Dragon King will rule the realms once again...

Gameplay 10/10

This games gameplay is simply amazing, unchanged from Deadly Alliance it holds strong and suprisingly works out well, you have 3 basic fighting modes
2 fighting styles and 1 weapon style, and for the combos you switch fighting styles while fighting and using a combo, pretty interesting really. To make things better they added 2 new modes Chess Kombat and Puzzle Kombat, basically in Chess Kombat u play like chess but slightly different, and when u try to take over a space u must fight it out in mortal kombat and u have a king also, Puzzle Kombat is like tetris but your fighters have special abilites to help out. Plus now the levels are multi-leveled and yes there are also death traps, instant death if u get hit into one. The Fatalities have reverted back to MK2 style where you have to be in a certain position. Theres also a new mode called Konquest Mode which is a adventure game where u unlock most of the stuff. This game lacks the online but makes up with it by adding in Shao Khan and ?Goro to the mix!!

Graphics: 9/10

The graphics are still the same as deadly alliance but thats not saying there bad, there still up to par with other foghters. Though the Chess and Puzzle kombat modes could have been better but it dosent really bother me.

Sound: 9/10

A big step forward here from deadly alliance, more voices but konquest dosent have the best audio but it dosent get annoying or anything.

Replay Value: 10/10

Konquest mode will keep you pretty busy and so will the Arcade mode and other fighting modes(Chess and Puzzle combat)

Rent Or Buy?:

If your a Mortal Kombat fan you should pick up this game, it's great. Even if this is your first ever Mortal Kombat game you should still probably get it, maybe a rent first to see if you for sure like it but you probably will get hooked within a day. If your used to games like Tekken and Soul Calibur II I recommend renting the game first because they are pretty different styles. But overall this game is as they say a "Flawless Victory".
