TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
Review by preston181
"Goldeneye's Grandbaby Has Arrived!"
Graphics: 9/10
I'd have to say amazing! The game's graphics are very smooth and performance barely lags, even in multi-player. The water efffects, like when bullets hit and spray are over the top. Not quite Half-Life 2, but pretty dang close for a console game.
Gameplay: 10/10
Definately not one of those crappy first-person-shooters that you play thru and forget about. This game has so much replay value, it's not even funny. With large single player missions, and different difficulties, and unlockables, and 150 multi-player characters, and tons of weapons, and so much crap to do outside of just single player story mode, this game will keep you busy. The arcade league and challenges return with easy to complete all the way up to mind-numbing hard stages. The multi-player mode is customizable to any hardcore gamer's liking. Sadly, the Gamecube version doesn't have online play, but still enjoyable. The improved mapmaker system also allows players to make their own little challenges. So much to do with this game.
Story: 8/10
The story is basically a large blend of everybody's favorite movies, games, and books. You start out as Cortez, a military man from the future, who is chosen to go back to different times to destroy time crystals, to prevent a war from starting. The game takes cues from anything from James Bond movies to the Resident Evil series. The cutscenes are hilarious, and even with old used storylines, the game keeps things fresh.
Sound/Audio: 9/10
The sound effects are pretty basic, but the music is great. The music tracks are very appropriate for each stage they are assigned to. The newly added announcer for the multi-player is sort of a double-edged sword though. He keeps players updated to how they're doing, but can be annoying too.
Overall: 9/10
I truely enjoyed the game completely. It's very rare that a console game will pull me away from my PC games the way this one did. This is one of those game that makes me happy to own and be able to take over to a friend's house to play for hours on end. It brings back the old days of friends gathering around the TV to deathmatch it out, like the way Goldeneye used to. If you buy one game right now, and either don't have Halo 2, or need a refreshing break from it, buy this game.
Buy or Rent: Buy
If you're like me, and miss the old days of large gathering of friends that you used to have with older games, like Goldeneye or Perfect Dark, Timesplitters 3 will not disappoint. Rent it, and you'll be left wanting more.
