TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
Review by BassForever
"Time Splitter NEARLY Perfect, that is the right title"
Well I have played and loved TS2 and TS1 and so when I heard of TS:FP I couldn't wait to play it, well I got it and it is MOSTLY all good.
Graphics-The graphics in this game are amazing, you have never seen a better looking Gamecube game in action, some people may complain about the blood in this game but it is very realistic and well done.
Audio-No problems here, ever gun sound nice and the background music is very catchy
Gameplay-To review this I will break this down into it's many parts
Story-The story of the Time Splitters games has never been it's strong point, TS:FP fixes this with a very amazing and well crafted story, it is funny and has many unique plot twist, your computer allies are very smart and will help you clear the stage, also each world has a different style of gameplay, one feels like a Halo game while is just like Resident Evil and also a Stealth game. All feel right in place in this game. This game introduces a time paradox where you will often team up with yourself to conquer challenges, this may feel a little bit repetitive watching the same cutscenes twice but it works well and is often very funny. Bosses in this game are easy and only a few will take more then one try but they are still a nice change of pace.
Arcade-This is where the other Time Splitters games have shined and this is no exception, you can play with up to ten bots who are all rather bright and choose from 13 game modes and 16 stages. There is also League mode where you can unlock up to 150 character to play with!! Some stages are a little dark but they over all work rather well
Challenge-This is a mixed bag, on one hand some of the challanges are fun and a nice change of pace, some such as cat racing don't belong and aren't well done, but then again you aren't playing a FPS for great racing minigames now are you.
Mapmaker-This is another one of features that makes Time Splitters games have alot of replay, you can create your own map with up to five different title schemes and indoor and outdoor stages! It is easy to make a basic map but some things will takes some trial an error to prefect, also making story maps and assault stages can be very annoying but with this there is an infinite number of game options you can make.
Vehicles-Now you may be wondering why this has it's own section, it is because it is the worst thing about this game. In Story mode you get access to three vehicles in three stages, a Halo warthog copy, a jeep which is the warthog minus the back gun, and a tank with a front gun, laser shooter, and space for extra people. While this sounds great, there is less then 30 minutes of actual play with these sadly. In multiplayer mode, out of 16 stages only one can have a vehicle and that one can only us the Jeep, so whats so bad about that, well you only get one in the whole stage and the passenger can't even shoot! It is an open jeep with no doors so why can't my human buddy also look out the side? Also your computer allies can't even use them! This makes the Jeep next to useless! In mapmaker you can put in as many vehicles as you want but the same problems still exist, also you can throw in the next to useless remote control CAT in as well! Overall this is the worst part of TS:FP.
Overview-In the end, TS:FP is the game fans like you and me have been waiting for, it is very well done with the exception of the vehicle aspect.
