Dragon Ball Z: Sagas
Review by SSJD316
"Almost, but not quite there........"
This game seemed like it was going to be a big hit among DBZ fans all over, including myself. I was eagerly awaiting the games release date, reading about it in magazines, seeing other articles, etc. But when I finally got it and it came out, I must say, over all, I wasn't as happy as expected.
Graphics: 6
The graphics in this game are pretty good, not the greatest, but the design of the fields looked pretty well done, the idea of blowing up rocks and mountains in the distance seemed pretty cool. The characters themselves weren't bad, but I think they could have gone into a bit more detail with their drawings, but that's just me.
Gameplay: 3
The gameplay is really fun...........for the first 5 minutes. It is cool to see you get into the action of the game, learning to fly, firing ki blasts, punching and picking up new combos with quick attacks like the roundhouse or uppercut, but shortly afterwards it gets annoying. Even the two player action will get bothersome after a while, esp if your partner decides to keep doing his big attack. It get annoying after a while and you don't really get anywhere. Also, the idea of teleporting is fun at first, but when the guys get smart enough to dodge the warp kamehameha or something, its pointless only to do the tedious punching and kicking combos again and again.
Replay value: 4
The only reason I give this a 4 is because of the fact that you can play as the variety of characters at the end. With bardock, brolly, tien, yamcha, different versions of goku gohan and all them, makes it almost worthwhile.
Overall: 5
In short, this game is too short. I think they should have taken a little more time in developing the whole map idea, the enemies, attacks, transformations, and story line. Definitely has its strong points in the beginning, but then just goes downhill from there. I hope they make a better game in the future, I will be waiting.
