Review by WaterMario222

"Mega Man and RPGs don't quite mix, however, this is a fairly good addition to the series."

Mega Man gets an RPG to add to its extensive collection of games. Not being a huge fan of the series, I wasn't ever planning to get this game any time soon. However, my friend sold me this game for five bucks, so I'm like, "Hey, it can't be too bad!" So after beating it, I'll estimate that the game's worth, say, 20 bucks.

Graphics: 4/10

I really hate cel-shading when it isn't used properly. Unfortunately, this isn't used properly. Command Mission uses the cel-shaded coloring technique, making the game look more "cartoonish". Other than that, the graphics are pretty average and nothing more. There's nothing original about the graphics of this game, and it's plain. No, they are not "crisp and sharp" images, to me, they look like horrific drawings of weird people from another dimension. Graphics don't play a huge part in this game, but nevertheless, it'll still affect the overall score of this game. One good thing, however, this game has a good variety of colors. That's basically it. Otherwise, prepare for cartoon graphics.

Story: 6/10

The story is very simplistic and doesn't quite compare to the other RPG games that are in stock these days. There needs to be more suspense and action involved, not just plain, predictable stuff. This is what makes or breaks an RPG, and according to the average score, it breaks it.

Gameplay: 7/10

The gameplay could've been done better, and improved a lot. First of all, there needs to be more real gameplay. Half of the game is made up of beating up little critters that don't look like anything evil or difficult to kill. They're just little creatures that have no idea that you're going to sneak up on them and attack. I mean, at least put up a fight! At least the gameplay is traditional and self-explanatory, because otherwise, you won't have a clue to what you're doing. So, controlling X, you'll be able to equip weapons and sub-weapons to characters and then use them to fight other baddies. Each of the characters have their own special attack known as an Action Trigger. A "Final Strike" is initiated when an enemy has low health. Then, everybody starts attacking and eventually, destroy the enemy. Another plus to this game is that unlockables are pretty useful. Some will upgrade your attacks, some are for mere collection (a vending machine), others will give you new challenges to face and conquer. Overall, the gameplay is solid, but some things, like the difficulty level, could definitely be improved and made so that you'll have a better gaming experience, and have the urge to play the next or previous game in the series. That's what game companies want you to do, and frankly, that's what I'd like to experience.

Sound: 10/10

Wow, I'm very impressed with the overall sound. All of the attacks sound unique and different, and have a little twist in them that makes the game that much more fun to play. I mean, who couldn't love hearing the desparate cries of stupid enemies getting killed by a fireball? Heh heh. The voice acting is awesome as well.

Scores:
Graphics: 4/10
Story: 6/10
Gameplay: 7/10
Sound: 10/10
Replay: Low
Fun Factor: High
Frustration: Below Average
Difficulty: Way Below Average
Final: 7/10

Mega Man X: Command Mission is actually a nice game in its own time and a great addition to the series. Evidentally, I'm not a big fan of the series overall, so I can't really give you an opinion on the game. If I were to destroy the thoughts that I have about the series, I'd say get it, because it'll last you for a little bit. Otherwise, if you don't like cartoon looks, and the series, then just rent it, and return it when necessary.
