"Fools of Wrestling"

Legends of Wrestling was released by Acclaim in the year 2002. As I play it now, I find more and more flaws that deduct from this game's value. Actually, if I were to wait another day, this score would probably drop to a 2, but frankly, I'm out of things to do and needs to keep occupied for a little bit. Legends of Wrestling is (duh) a wrestling game that'll pit you and other wrestling legends (hence the name) against each other in brute fight! Sound exciting, right? As the old adage says: "Don't judge a book (or in this case a game) by its cover."

Gameplay: 36%

The gameplay of this game is horrific, yet somehow amusing to the fact that you can punch other people. Did I mention that there are little to no combo/signature moves? I didn't? Sorry about that. Oh, yeah, forgot to tell you that the attitude engine is here. There are only 4 or 5 modes to play in, all of them repetitive. You can also "create a legend" and customize stats. This gets boring quick, because you're not allowed to make them superpowered. The one and only fun thing to do in this game is to beat people up with punches, but that gets pretty boring fast, too.

Sound: 59%

The sound is mediocre, like most of the categories for this game. There's nothing special about it and you shouldn't get excited about it. The music is weird, and doesn't quite suit the actual fight very well, and you'll feel awkward killing an opponent. Each character has their own theme song, but all of those could've been done in less than 10 minutes.

Graphics: 44%

The graphics looked pretty good on the game cover and in the opening sequence, but when you actually start fighting, they look like regular human beings with no personality. Heck, they don't even look very strong. Figurines that were enlarged come to mind.

Legends of Wrestling puts a bad reputation onto Acclaim. You really shouldn't even rent this game, rent some other game, like a real Smackdown game. No, I'm not looking forward to Legends of Wresting II.
