Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue
Review by WaterMario222
"Another step in the right direction"
After playing an overall good game that featured Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, I was somewhat looking forward to a sequel. And when it came out, I rented it just like I did the first game. It was pretty good. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue was released by EA Games in North America and Europe in the year 2004.
Sound: 7/10
Unlike the previous game, the sound was great and pleasing to hear for most of the time. Sometimes, you'll get annoyed by the repetitive sounds, but that shouldn't happen very often, unless you're the type of person that explores every little detail of the game, and take more than 50 hours to play a game that shouldn't even take 10. The voice acting isn't as unique as the previous game, it's a little bland, but nevertheless, it was done with quality seeping out of it. All of the tropical and natural sounds will please you and for that reason, I sometimes end up going back to this game just to hear the interesting sounds. The music is well created and makes the environment sound more realistic and enjoyable.
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics are well done and compared to other games, well above average. I guess that two points were taken off, because of lack of originality. Most everything of the graphics appeared in the previous game and it feels a little like a repeat. If you've never played the first Ty the Tasmanian Tiger before, you wouldn't know what I mean, so the graphics would be 10/10. This game takes place in a tropical rain-forest type of setting and for that reason, you'll see a lot of trees on your quest. You might also be at great heights at times, because this game is a platformer.
Story: 6/10
On the quest to defeat Boss Cass, Ty will face numerous enemies. That's about it. The story never intensifies, making it hard to completely understand the true meaning behind the game's gameplay and story.
Gameplay: 8/10
During his mission to defeat Boss Cass, Ty will acquire weapons, such as boomerangs. He'll use these items to strategically destroy enemies that each have their own secret to being annihalated. There are some good missions that you'll have to do, some that may be very frustrating. Some jumps are incredibly long and if you fall, you'll most likely have to start your journey over. And at that point, you'll probably throw your GameCube out of the window (do not attempt). This game is nice and holds lots of action that a true platformer could only achieve, and it deserves a high score.
Scores:
Sound: 7/10
Graphics: 8/10
Story: 6/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Difficulty: Above Average
Fun Factor: High
Replay Value: Low
Frustration: Very High
Final: 7/10
Bush Rescue is a great game that gives the series a nice push in the right direction. I'd suggest renting this, because of the somewhat low replay value, and you'll find no reason to continue playing this game after a certain period of time.
