The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
Review by Soldier_0_Cross
"HULK SMASH!!! He most certainly does, and it sure is alot of fun to mkae him do so."
We all know the Hulk's story. Mild Mannered scientist Bruce Banner exposed to Gamma radiation turns into big green guy when angry. Then hes unstoppable. This game takes on the freeroaming concepts of Spiderman 2 and The destruction concept of Rampage and makes one heck of a game. Heres why:
Graphics 7/10
The graphics in this game are certainly not bad at all. There fairly decent. The cutscenes look fairly good and nicely polished as well. Things blow and break very well in this game and it certainly shows it off well. Sometimes very rarely there are minor framerate issues but thats nothing. The enemies look awesome actually especially up close, alot of detail went into them and it was worth it. The Jade Giant also looks awesome big green, and all mean. The one downside is that there isn't alot of detail in the houses and the demolished cars/mechs/anything else. They have about 3 states fine, mildly smashed up and exploded so they never look very different even if you hit them on 1 side constantly and expect that side to get smushed in.
Sound/Music 8/10
The sound is basic stuff blowing up and mean grunts from our Green Goliath hero. The sound effects are all cool from missiles launching to cars crashing. I really dont care for the music as there is only music at dramatic scenes in the game and sometimes when large groups of enemies attack, and sometimes i just feel I want some music while im jumping from building to building and smashing stuff. But hey I have a stereo so thats cool.
Story 10/10 if you are fan of The Hulk 7/10 if you aren't
If you are a fan of the Hulk comics you'll recognize characters and enemies. The story takes off right after the movie did. Bruce banner is in his forest cabin working on separating himself from the Hulk forever. Wen he is attacked and must restart all his work on his machine with the help of his friend Dr. Samson. Dr.Samson uses hypnosis on Bruce Banner to create a state of artificia anger and gives the Hulk objectives to like retrieving parts and research data for the machine that get rid of the Hulk from Banners Sub consious. Also later in the story we learn of much more sinister foes that wish to wreak havoc on the earth and the Hulk himself even one that lives inside Bruce banners mind waitin to concur him. If you are a fan of the Hulk the story will really please and enjoy you. If you aren't its still good you just won't find it as intriguing. Theres more to the story than that so its very good.
Controls 9/10
At first I really felt akward with them but after awhile they became second nature and were alot of fun. They really make you feel like you are the Hulk and that you feel alot of power coming from your controller.
Gameplay 9.5/10
As you probably already know this game is a free roamer. You can go anywhere and do what you want. You have alot of awesome moves at your disposal. You can Jump high and come crashing down making a huge crater. Punch policemen into the the air and smash up the town good. One of the most awesome points of the game is the weaponization feature. The ability to take everyday objects and turn then into weapons. For example grab a car, rip it in twine, and smash the ends together to make steel fists. Or rip a ball and chain of a demolition truck and start swinging it around everywhere. Over the course of them you earn demolition points for your destruction which you use to buy new moves and weaponization possibilities. Also you collect comic books over the course of the game which unlock cheats and earn you concept art (which is always cool especially if you like The Hulk). The one thing I didn't like about it is that sometimes it is a button masher. After you break stuff up alot the fuz comes after you and then tanks and later in the game Hulk size mechs that'll give you a run for your money. But later when you get more skilled you dont button mash as often.
Replayibility 9/10
Ive had this game for a few weeks now. I've already finished the story mode twice and am starting up a new file soon. There are still insane amounts of fun to be had, like cause mayhem and go looking for more comic book covers. Theres so many cool things to unlock especially the making of videos. Theres too many cheats to count that the fun just never ends. I still enjoy going into the city and wreaking havoc its insane fun.
Final Verdict 9/10
This game can be enjoyed by almost anyone. Even if you aren't a fan of the Jade Giant. I would definetly put this on my must own games list. Maybe you might want to rent it first though if you dont like free roam games and aren't a fan of The Hulk.
