Donkey Konga

Review by Alex91

"Nice Idea, Good Gameplay, Horrible songs!"

Donkey Konga is nintendos newest music game. Where you use bongos, yes bongos to go with the song. This game provides us with some not so good songs and a very challenging difficult that takes forever to master.

Graphics
I cant really rate this. You have around four or five backgrounds and donkey kong playing the bongos on your screen. The unlockable mini games however feature some average nice bright graphics to look at. I can not say that much.
Final Verdict: 5/10

Sound
Well seeing as this is a music game there is of course going to be some kind of sound. Well this game ranges from crap kid songs to well crap pop songs from 1999. The beats from the bongos was actually better than the songs themselves. Why must nintendo screw up sound in a MUSIC game? There is some good songs mixed in thankfully like we will rock you and whip it. Even with some good songs it just does not balance out the bad ones so I just can not give this a high score.
Final Verdict: 4/10

Story
Hop on into the world of Donkey Konga where music is always playing, be the new bongo master and be able to play Pokemon on your bongos! Now really there is no story just grab your bongos ang play some songs.
Final Verdict: 3/10

Gameplay
The gameplay only uses the bongos or a controller (not recommended). You press left when it shows the left bongo, right for right, you press both when it shows both, and you clap when its shows this big blue blob. This is the basic gameplay. You can unlock mini game if you do good in single player. You unlock them by getting coins for how many things you landed during a song. The mini games help this game out a lot. Seeing as how this is easy to pick up and play I have to give it a good score.
Final Verdict: 7/10

Challenge
Easy songs are easy of course but everything harder than easy can get insanely difficult. If you want to get the perfect score for every song you will have quite a few years ahead of you. You also have your even harder ones where you have to remember what you have to remember what to press because it does not show you what you have to press. This insane difficulty is just way too hard.
Final Verdict: 7/10

Multiplayer
This actually makes up for some fun times playing those bongos of yours. It is insane when you have 4 lines of beats going on the screen at once. If you know four people with bongos tell them to come and play with you. This is the only this that saves this game from having a below average score.

Rent or Buy?
Do not rent or buy if you are a hardcore gamer! This is a game more for little ten year old kids judging by the song selection. If you have kids you may want to consider buying it for them. I may also want to recommend the way better Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.
