"Spawn is the Spider Man from hell!"

For people who know me, they can usually point out one thing: I'm a Spawn geek. From the comics, movies, collectible toys, and CDs, something can always be found in my Spawn collection. When I heard that there was a new Spawn game coming out, I ran around like a 3 month year old puppy! When it came out, I added Spawn: Armageddon to my growing collection. As a Spawn fan I was not disappointed.

Story: 8
A beam of light falls from the sky and blasts a hole right smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Spawn, being the gentlemen he is, goes and investigates. I won't spoil any twists but Heaven and Hell are involved.
Overall it wasn't the best story line, but it was still pretty good.

Graphics: 10
One word: WOW! The graphics are highly detailed and dark. The environments don't have that repetitive feel to them that you get in some games. The enemies have a disgusting and evil look to them. So when you see an extremely ugly baddie, you say "Man you're ugly,so because you are ugly you will fall by my blade!" The most gorgeous place would be the angel station because of its bright colors and awesome detail. Heck, even the garbage cans look good! Of all the environments and characters, Spawn's cape just looks so bad ass!

Sound: 9
The sound are absolutely amazing. The gunshots sound cool, Spawn's chains sound awesome, the sound of an axe hitting demon scum sounds right, and even the sounds of Spawn's footsteps is sweet. Nothing is bad here except that during fights the sound gets a bit repetitive.

Music:10
The eerie back round music flat out rules. During fights, heavy metal rock music changes the attitude from horror game to action fighting game and fits perfectly. Some of the heavy metal music sucks, but there aren't a lot of them. So overall the music fits the mood of the game perfectly.

Control: 9
The control is easy to figure out and is simple as 123. My only complaint is the camera can get a little wonky at times but is nothing game ruining.

Game play: 9
The game is an action beat um up but with a few twists. Mainly you have a huge arsenal at your hands to plow down the baddies. To get ammo you defeat enemies or collect souls and buy ammunition after a mission. The action is intense and pretty fun. Also for you hand to hand geeks, Spawn has an axe to fight enemies with. Though very useful, it only has a 3 button combo. So usually action with the axe gets old, but is fun with the powers.

Speaking of powers, Spawn has a ton of powers. Spawn can unleash his chains for when your out of ammo ( I beat the final boss with only chains once.) He also can glide with his cape that looks awesome. In addition to those powers, Spawn has hell powers. He can slow time for everything but him, put a shield around him, unleash the horrors of hell, fire a huge blast, and fire a homing ball of necroplasm. All these are neat and are helpful, but they use up your necroplasm which you might need later.

There are minor jumping puzzles and some very challenging bosses to go with the frantic action the game offers.

Replay: 9
There are 99 Spawn comic covers spread out through the game and are a real challenge to find. Although it isn't a whole lot, I love seeing past issues of comics.

Buy or Rent? Buy!
It is a excellent game that should be pretty cheap. So if you see a copy, give it a home. You won't be disappointed, I know I wasn't and I'm a huge Spawn fan.

Overall score: 9.1/10 (rounded to 9)
