"Fun... but too short, too repetitive and too easy. Failure."

The only Wario game that has kept me playing for more than a week has been Wario Ware Inc. from GBA and the Wario Ware for the DS. All the other games have been fun, but easy and short, and and Wario World is not an exception from the "other games".

GRAPHICS: 9

I think this where they put all the effort. The graphics are amazing for the GC, they use lots of great effects, the water looks awesome, the last boss looks pretty good. You won't find pixeled stuff and it's not easy to detect flawed polygons. I've seen better graphics, like RE4 or Metroid Prime, but those are more realistic, while this game depends on comical and colorful stuff.

Light effects, colors, designs and details are everywhere. My favorite graphics were on the circus levels and the last 3 bosses because I couldn't ask for more. They are dark when they were supposed to be dark and happy when one needed to be cheered up. Very good.

MUSIC/SOUNDS: 5. ---music 4/5 and sounds 1/5---

The attack sounds get way too repetitive after the first two bosses. They are just always the same stupid sounds. "WHAAA!!" "WOOOHH". I wish they changed more often because it's just too much. Also, since you will be using the same 2 or 3 attacks over and over, and the sounds will repeat, OVER and OVER. I really got tired of the sounds after a few minutes of playing the game.

On the other hand, the music is very good. Is simple, nothing that will be remembered after a few months, but it makes the atmosphere of the game to drastically change for good. I wonder if this is the only thing that could really add replay value to Wario World, the music.

STORY: 5 (NOTE: some spoilers here. Nothing unexpected tough)

Original but bad. That's what I think of the story.

Who would have thought that the great Wario would suffer from an evil treasure he got himself. It's a nice thing because it's fun, if you know what I mean. Irony is the word to describe the story. The problem is that it never gets any deep at all. You just see the story and *SPOILERS* fight the treasure to make it all go back to normal *END OF SPOILERS*.

Even if a story is particularly fun and original, it gets totally destroyed by a lack of use. If the game doesn't use the story at all, but only as an excuse to make the game then it just doesn't work for me, and I think that it won't work for you either.

CONTROL: 8

No problems in here. You get used to it really easily and you "discover" all the different punches and combos you can do by yourself in a few minutes of playing the game. It is repetitive, but that goes on gameplay :).

GAMEPLAY: 2

I absolutely loved the first level. But then I noticed something: nothing changes. You don't really need anything else to beat the enemies but only what you did on the first level. As an arcade this game wouldn't have been too bad: you pay money to play it once and after you lose your first life you enjoyed it, but you don't pay for more. But in a console, this game gets repetitive quickly.

Now, the two biggest problems: easy and short. The game could've been great if they had "applied" the NES non-saving style. One, because it would have been a bit more difficult and it would have taken much more time to beat it, instead of one night of videogaming. That's right, one can easily beat this game in one serious night. What's the point of that? If this had been one of the first game for the Cube then it would have made a good entrance, but it is even shorter than Luigi's Mansion. And the game is so easy that the gameplay gets screwed up. Thus, the game turns from being a fun thing to an endless hell of boredom. Oh wait, it isn't endless... it ends and really quickly. Quickly but painful, how bad.

REPLAY VALUE: 2

I really don't want to play this game again. I don't feel like playing it again, ever. Playing it once was not THAT bad, it was ok, I can handle it, but I really don't want to do it again.

Now, they added the possibility to get some mini games from Wario Ware from GBA. This was supposed to add all the replay value this game, but it is poorly executed. It's kinda obvious to me that they did it only to advertise the Wario Ware games since they weren't selling as much as one was expecting, but that only bothers me more. I already have all the Wario Ware games, why would I want this? and in case somebody doesn't have them, then they will not want to get them because it's really not the same to play them with all the cool mixes , but if you play it in here it gets boring. LAME.

CONCLUSION: 4

Rent it for a day and play it while you enjoy it. You will like it I think. But don't buy it as I did because you will waste money. They should've added much more stuff to this game... Wario as a character rocks so much!
