Battalion Wars

"This really just isn't a fun game... simple as that..."

Battalion wars. From the makers of Advance wars, Advance wars 2, and Advance wars Dual strike (all good games!) But Battalion wars doesn't nearly live up to the other games...

It looks very fun, and it is for a little while... But it is really repetative, and gets very boring, very soon...

Sound: 5/10
The sound effects were quite well done. The gunshots, the explosions, the vehicles, its all very good, but the character voices drag it down. All your soldiers complain in annoying vocies and your commanding officers are even worse...

Graphics: 6/10
While a little cartoony, the landscaping is amazing. The trees waving in the wind, the grass, the water... The characters look quite good themselves. I really don't care for the bullets. They all look the same regardless of who shoots them.

Gameplay: 3/10
This is the most important part to any game. Sadly this game lacks many qualities that make a game fun. First off, your Commanding officers give you little to no information on what the heck you are supposed to be doing. I found myself running around aimlessly trying to kill the enemy. On missions where you are supposed to destroy an enemy base, they don't tell you which one. I ended up attacking the wrong bases in the wrong order and failing my mission because of it. Secondly, certain units are better against certain units. This is fine by me but to this extent?! Use an infanrty to take out enemy infantry, use a recon to take out infantry, use a tank to take out recons, use bigger tanks to wise out smaller tanks. It is extremely annoying switching back and forth between units to defeat the enemy. Thirdly the AI is extremely stupid. If you don't tell the soldiers what to do, they always get themselves killed. If you don't tell a half dead soldier not to attack 4 tanks, he will attack those 4 tanks.

Other notes:
- All the commanding officers are childish, and overly happy. They act as if its a children's game, but on the frontline people are getting torched by flame throwers and getting shot in the face.

- The cast of characters is totaly new. I don't know about you but I'd rather play as the classic Orange star soldier and fight the Black Hole game boy advance style rather than these new characters like extremely dumb-blond stereotype Brigadeer Betty. (that was not a shot agaisnt blonds, note I said stereotype)

That about sums it up. I was looking forward to this game, but it was dissapointing...
