Rocky
Review by ninjacow22
"Ladies and gentalmen! Welcome to the Crap Fest 2000!"
I have never seen any of the Rocky movies. Call me insane but boxing movies are not my favorites. I do however like boxing video games. So when I saw this at my local Blockbuster, I bought it with another game. After an hour of playing, I highly regretted getting this game. If you like boxing games, stick with Black and Bruised or any other boxing game and don't even bother with this one.
Graphics: 7
This is the only decent part of the game. The characters look like the people in the movies and the environments look pretty good. Sometimes though, things get kind of warn out look. The graphics are not the best in the world, but they are pretty good.
Control: 1
This is where the game shoots itself in the foot. I couldn't really figure the controls out for about a half hour! Usually that wouldn't be too bad, but the controls are very unresponsive. For example, say you wanted to slug your opponent in the stomach. So you press the buttons to do so but your character doesn't move an inch. You press the buttons over and over to try to get the move to work but with no luck. Maybe your character attacks during the button pressing but once every three presses just doesn't cut the mustard. This leaves tons of time for the opponent to hit your character and that is not a good thing.
Sound: 1
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!!!! This is what you'll be saying through out the entire game. They punch effects sound like a pillow and the swinging of your fist sounds like someone having a heart attack.
Music: 3
The Rocky theme song is here! Except it is way over used in my opinion and it started to get on my nerves. There is other songs but they are very forgettable.
Gameplay: 3
If you have played any other boxing game you know what to expect. You go through a series of fights and try to win. Usually it's basic but fun. Unfortunately thats not the case here. The timer goes really fast for some reason which gives you barely any time to fight and your opponents health increases like yours which makes the game much harder than it should.
There is also a exercise type of upgrade system. The exercises seemed more difficult then they should have. Luckily there is auto exercise which does the exercises for you and gives you the stats.
Normally all this wouldn't be too much of a problem, but the controls really kill what this potentially good game has to offer.
Replay: 4
You can upgrade your stats and unlock movies but you have to play the through the crappy game to unlock this stuff.
Buy or rent: Neither
This game is not even worth the five dollars I paid to buy the game! Stay away and go play Black and Bruised which is a much better boxing game than this.
Overall score: 3.1/10 (rounded to 3)
