Mega Man X Collection
Review by ravenhood27
"Another great Mega collection from Capcom!"
The Mega Man series has been around for the majority of most gamers' years. Mega Man first appeared on the NES with its' simple "Mega Man <insert number>" titles. However, it wasn't the title that mattered to gamers. Mega Man gave people a gaming experience unlike anything they had seen at that time. Eventually, the evolution of the gaming world gave birth to new consoles, and with new consoles comes new games and experiences. Hence, the Mega Man X series was born.
Visuals: 10/10
I know, a perfect 10 may seem a little high, especially for such old 2D games. However, after seeing multiple failed attempts at making 3D look good on current generation systems, it's a welcome change to see 2D visualizations at its' best. Not only are the graphics great (even better for their time), but playing the games gives people a sense of nostalgia. Simply playing these games can bring you back in time, to a time when almost all of the games were fantastic and only gameplay, and sometimes story, really mattered. Which brings me to my next score...
Gameplay: 10/10
Yes, another perfect score, but these games actually deserve it. The gameplay is quite responsive, and everything you want to happen, happens. If you want to climb a wall or dash through the level, introduced in Mega Man X, then you can. If you want to duck and shoot, introduced in Mega Man X5, you can. The controls are quite simple, and easy to get used to, which seemed to be a problem for some people in Mega Man Anniversary Collection. That problem has been fixed, and the games couldn't be any better.
Replay Value: 7/10
Unfortunately, once the games are finished, and you've unlocked everything associated with the games, there isn't really any reason to play them again (besides the entertainment factor). However, the games do provide players with enough to make them want to play at least one more time. At least the games provide a nostalgic feel, if not for anything else.
Overall: 27/30 ---> 9/10
Overall, this game is an amazing collection of great games that, despite being fairly short, provide a lot of fun times, both new and, if you've played before, old. I recommend picking this up if you have the chance. This is definitely a game you want in your collection.
