"Get your gun ready!"

I have always wanted to play a western game. Unfortunately, I only have a Gamecube so I haven't been able to play one (there are no other westerns on the Gamecube.) When I herd about gun, got really excited. Especially since it was created from the creators of the awesome Tony hawk series. Though when it came out, the store in my town didn't have it. I finally got it after a few weeks and boy is it awesome!

Graphics: 9
The graphics are very well done! The character models are very detailed and the environments are nicely detailed and are really good looking. There isn't any slowdown either. The towns seem a little barren though and could have used a bit more detail.

Sound: 9
The gun shots sound good and the sound of your horse running is awesome. But thats not the best thing. The voice acting RULES! Colten White is voiced by Thomas Jane (was in The Punisher) and Hoodoo Brown is voiced by Ron Perlman (Hellboy.) The voice acting gives the game a movie like atmosphere.

Music: 10
The music gets you in the mood to fight when you are in a shoot out. Also the music while riding your horse is brilliant (if there is any when your riding.) No problems here.

Controls: 7
The controls are like a first person shooter. Aim with the C-Stick and shoot with the R button, you know how they are. They work great, but it is kind of hard to switch weapons during a gun fight. This can lead to many cheap deaths.

Gameplay: 8
Think Grand Theft Auto in the west. Gun is a free-roam game in the west. You can steal horses (well it's not really stealing but it's close), you can cause chaos, there are side missions, and you can go anywhere and do anything if you don't want to do the missions. Unfortunately, there aren't too many side missions to keep you occupied and the game doesn't offer much after you beat it.

There are tons of weapons to choose from. Most are shotguns, rifles, and pistols but there are others. They include bow and arrows, dynamite, axes, and knifes. There is even a scalping knife (yes this game is M rated.) Though ammo is hard to find for the shotguns, the rifles are just as good and the ammo for those is easy to find. The pistol has unlimited ammo too.

The fights are awesome and fun. A neat feature is the quick draw system. If you are getting out numbered, just press the quick draw button and everyone will slow down, giving you a huge advantage. It is a neat system that is fun to do.

Though the game is fun, it is brutally short. It took me about 3-4 hours to beat. But I had so much fun in that 3-4 hours that I wanted to replay the game over again! It was short but if you do them, the side missions add to the length.

Replay: 4
As I said the there are few side quests and you can try to mine all the gold in the game. However, they add nothing to the game and are very dull distractions. The main game is so good though that you'll want to replay it a couple more times.

Buy or Rent: BUY!
It is cheap right now (below 20 dollars) and it is a great game that will keep you coming back for more!

The M rating: Many people want this game but can't get it because of the M stamp. Well here's my description. I took each thing thing Gun was rated for and put why it is there:

Blood and Gore: There are large puddles of blood and limbs blown off.

Strong Language: Fiery four letter words and other curses.

Sexual Themes: Uhhh... there was a couple of paintings showing nudity. Also a woman in a bathtub.

Intense Violence: People are shot, stabbed, blown up, and killed in various and violent ways.

Use of Alcohol: Whiskey is used to replenish your health

Overall Score: 7.8/10 (rounded to 8/10)
