Gameplay -This game is pretty darn fun. If you're playing with friends, it'll be even better. Truly, it's a solid sports game, and in my opinion one of the best sports games for the gamecube console (even though that's a small category, it's still a good game). The basic strategy is; (1) get ball, (2) move ball to goal, and (3) kick ball into goal. This may seem pretty dull, but when you spend the whole match pushing peach into an electric wall, you'll realize how fun it is. There's 9 characters total, one of them isn't usable until you beat a certain number of matches. The matches are divided into cups, (or divisions as you may call them) and have a larger number of matches as you try tougher cups ( Mushroom, Flower, Star and Bowser Cups, Mushroom being the first of the four). The multiplayer games are much easier to follow. You just choose your character ( Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Peach, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi, not including the secret character) and then choose your sub-characters ( the characters on your team other than main character, and you can choose between Hammer Bros., Birdos, Toadies and Koopas), then you just play.
Story- The story's pretty simple, and the usual Mario game story; everyone wants to have the best soccer team, and Mario & Company are going to hold a tournament . Simple indeed.
Graphics & Sound- The graphics are so-so in this game, mostly because it's on the Gamecube. You can slightly see crooked lines on the character models, but it really is the system's limits. And the fact that Mario's face is not the usual shape of a human head, it's kinda expected. The sound is tremendous for a gamecube game. The yells and shouts from the characters really accessorize the already great game, and give you that this feels like real life feeling, including the GOOOOOOOOOOOOALLL!! when you score a point.
Playtime/ Replay ability - All in all, you could possibly beat this game in one day, but that would ruin the game. If you really like to play this game, it could last you 1-2 years (like it's probably going to be for me). It's not really replayable, because the story mode's kinda short.
Overall-This game's definitely worth buying, especially if you like sports games, because it puts a nice twist on the average soccer video game.
