"A Nice Change for the 007 Franchise"

Before I get started, I would like to say a few things. I have never played Halo in my life. I think I might have watched someone play Goldeneye for the N64...when I was like 6 or 7. What I'm saying is that I won't be comparing this game to those games because...I've never played them.

On to the review.

GRAPHICS: 6/10

This is the low point of the game. The opening scene is awesome, but otherwise the cinematics are very badly done and could've been a lot better. On the other hand, the enemies are very well done. Some people complain that they look the same. That would make sense, because they are wearing uniforms. The uniforms actually help, because you can tell how powerful the enemy is by what they're wearing. To sum it up, the cinematics are badly done, but the gameplay graphics are average.

SOUND: 9/10

VERY nicely done! The main menu music is terrific! I wish they would make a soundtrack to this game, it's just so catchy! The gameplay music is great too, and gets the adrenaline flowing, like any FPS should. The best part? The enemies. Are you using your magnetic shield? "He's using some sort of shield!" The enemies just sound so smart! The sound in this game truly is great.

GAMEPLAY: 8/10

This game got fairly negative reviews. Why? I really am not sure. The game can be quite fun. Why? One reason is the story. I loved it! Playing in the dark side of the 007 world really made a great game. Also the levels are fantastic. They are huge! The last level can take up to 2 hours to complete, but you won't get bored or frustrated. This game also introduces 'Eye Powers'. They range from a type of X-Ray vision to a shield. It sounds cool, but EA could have made it more significant to the game. Only once or twice are you actually required to use them.

Of course, this game is an FPS. This game has a lot of shooting, I'll tell you that. It's actually more of a mass murder. By the end of the game over 1000+ enemies have been killed. Where do you kill them? The levels are very cool. They range from Hong Kong, to a tropical island named Crab Key, Volcano Lair, Hoover Dam (!!!), Midas Casino, Fort Knox, and more! This leads to a lot of variety.

So why only an 8? It can get a bit old for some people. The duel-wielding is cool (having two weapons at once), but in the end, it all winds down to getting the best weapons and killing everyone. Then again, I guess all FPS's are like that, but EA does nothing to fix this flaw.

VALUE: 7/10

Re-play value? Well it will take you a while to play through on Easy, so it can be a challenge to play it on Hard. This will lead to some extra play time. Also, multiplayer can be very fun, provided you have some friends to play with. In the end though, you can only kill so many of Dr. No's goons before it gets old.

Graphics----6
Sound-------9
Gameplay---8
Value--------7

OVERALL: 7.5 rounded down to 7 for GameFaqs.

Why round down? It's a great game, but it won't appeal to everyone. It's good, but just not good enough for an 8.
