Introduction (RBINT)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle & Friends for the SNES and Sega
Genesis is an odd game. It is an action, 2D Platformer. The basic premise
is that during the dedication of the Rocky and Bullwinkle museum, Boris and
Natasha steal all the artifacts and Rocky and Bullwinkle must go after them.
This will take you on a quest through some of the hardest levels ever to
grace a video game.

I have owned this game since the day it came out. When I was younger, I
couldn't even make it up the mountain in the very first level. Several years
later, I decided to write a review for it. I managed to get to the third
level while writing the review. Now, another year removed I have decided to
once again write for this game, this time being a Walkthrough. My goal here
is to beat the game and share my experiences along the way. This is a step
by step guide, where I write everything down just after I do it.

This is a very tough game, and as far as I know, no one has tried writing for
this game in the past. I have yet to beat this game because it is immensely
difficult. I hope that by version 1.00 of this guide, the guide will not
only be complete but I will have beaten the game. I am playing this game
along with you. If at any time you have a question, comment, or correction,
feel free to e-mail me at Arguro AT hotmail.com with your query.

Items (RBITEM)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I added this section to help explain the terminology of the items within the
game. When I started, it didn't occur to me that people playing this game
would be unfamiliar with the cartoon and would not understand what is what.
This list does not include single occurrence items, like the ones at the end
of each level.

Flower: This is a yellow flower that floats in the air. Grabbing it
provides one health point (you gain one flower at the top left screen, each
flower represents one life point)

Moose Berry: These are tiny pink round objects that are usually suspended in
the air, but can be found on bushes as well. These provide ammunition.
There is a counter just under the health meter that reveals how many you have.

Flag: These are small, red flags that appear all over the place in the
levels. Gathering 15 of them will provide you with an extra life.

Moose Berry Bushels: These are a group of Moose Berries that contain
anywhere from five to fifteen Moose Berries. When you touch it, the berries
fall all over the ground and must be picked up before they disappear.

Key: These are dropped by the Metal Munching Moon Mice in the second stage
after you head butt them. They provide 250 points when collected.

Nuts: These looks almost identical to Moose Berries, but are triangular
instead of round. They are Rocky's choice of weapon and only appear in
levels where you control him

Nut Bushels: Just like Moose Berry Bushels, they are a group of Nuts that
when touched, spill all over the ground and can be collected. They also only
appear in levels where you control Rocky.

Press Start at the title screen and you will be taken to the story. You can
press start at any time to bypass the story. At the end of the story (or if
you press start during it) you will be taken to an option screen. You have a
choice between the main game and two mini games. The mini games are covered
in the next section. Choose the main game and you will be on your way.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 1-1 The Mountain (RB1-1)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a brief cut scene showing the silhouettes of Rocky and Bullwinkle
moving towards a mountain, you will find yourself in control of Bullwinkle.
There will be a rock bouncing in front of you. Use Y to bash the rock with
your head. It works best to do so right after it bounces and it coming
towards you.

Move to the right until you can no longer move. Jump up and you will grab a
hold of the side of the mountain. By pressing up, you can climb. Make sure
to grab the two moose berries as you move up. There will be a rock rolling
down the mountain. The instant you see it, press right and Bullwinkle will
move out of the way.

Continue up the mountain. You will see a ledge with a flag on it. Just as
Bullwinkle gets level with the ledge, a red and white bird will fly in from
the right. The instant you see it, press right to avoid the stick it drops
at you. You can jump over to the ledge to grab the flag if you want, but you
don't have to.

Keep moving up. When you see a black bird move in from the left, it will fly
across above you. Keep moving and it will turn around and fly in underneath
you. Don't stop moving once you see it. There will then be a rock falling
and a red and white bird moving across at you. There is a good chance you
will take a hit, but you can try to avoid it by moving as far up as you can
and then holding right just before the rock hits you.

Keep moving up. The next red and white bird will drop a stick that you can
avoid by stopping and holding your position. Once he passes, continue on up.
You will come to the top of this mountain. There will be a flower which you
can grab to give you a piece of health back. Move right and attack the two
rocks with your head. Jump onto the mountain face in front of you and
continue moving up.

You will see a branch sticking out of the mountain side. If you jump onto it
you can grab two moose berries. There will be a bird in the nest that jumps
out and throws stuff at you, so jump back to the mountain side quickly and
continue up.

You will see Boris on a ledge throwing pick axes at you. Get level with him
and you can throw moose berries at him. It takes three shots to kill him.
He will fall and you can continue up along the mountain. There will be
another black bird that flies at you which can be avoided by moving quickly.
You will reach the top and there will be a rock you need to smash. There
will be a mountain lion just past the rock that charges you. You can jump
over it and stun it by head butting it from behind. You can kill it with
five moose berry attacks. There will be a bushel of moose berries here as
well. Jump up and touch them and they will fall all over the ground and you
can pick them up.

Move right and you will come to a hole with two rocks coming up from it.
Stand on the very edge of the ledge and you can head butt the rocks and they
will break. Jump the gap and keep moving right. There will be three rocks
to break before you come to a bridge.

This bridge is tricky. There will be planks that break under Bullwinkle's
weight. There will also be birds that fly in and attack. Jump to the first
set of three planks, where the flag is and crouch down (hold down). The
first bird will come in from the right. Once he passes by, jump to the next
set of four planks. Another bird will fly in from the right. Duck and he
will fly by. Take a close look at the very next plank (8th over all plank)
This is a plank that will break once you jump on it. Jump on it and
immediately jump to the very next plank. Once you land you need to duck,
because a bird will fly at you from the right.

The plank with a flag on it will break out from under you, as will the one
immediately after. You must jump quickly to get to the set of four planks at
the end of the bridge. Once you land there, duck to avoid another bird.
There will be a health flower that you can grab as you jump to the other
ledge on the right.

You will meet another mountain lion that you can kill with five moose berry
attacks from either side. Bash the rock with your head and jump up and grab
a hold of the mountain side and move up. There will be another black bird
and another branch with moose berries. Grab the berries while avoiding the
two birds and move up. You will see Boris again on a ledge. Three moose
berries kills him. There will also be a flower you can grab, but you have to
jump to the ledge where Boris was.

Move up and another red and white bird will swoop in, this time from the left.
The stick he drops will fall on the other side on Bullwinkle, so do NOT press
right to avoid it. You will see another one from the right that will drop a
stick on the right and another one that comes in from the left that drops one
on the right as well. Keep moving up, being sure to grab the moose berries.

When you get to the top, there will be another mountain lion. Again, five
hits to kill it. The bushel contains a lot of moose berries. Move right and
kill the rock. Stand on the ledge and bash the three rocks that bounce up
and down in the gap. Jump the gap and avoid the mountain lion. There will
be four rocks bouncing up and down in the next gap. Bash them all and jump
the gap. Move right and you will see a cave entrance. Walk into it and you
will move to the next stage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 1-2: The Cave (RB1-2)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You start out inside of a cave. Instantly a spike from the ceiling will fall
down in front of you. Watch out for these because there will be a few more.
Move right. There will be a metallic mouse that extends his head up and down
(This is a Metal Munching Moon Mouse officially). You can attack it with
Moose Berries and kill it after five hits, or, better yet, wait until his
back is turned and head smash into it and knock the key shaped object off of
its back. This renders it immobile. It will stand in one spot and move its
head up and down. You can then time your jump and get past it without
wasting moose berries or health.

Just after the Moon Mouse, there will be a rock that comes out of the
background and tries to bowl you over. Avoid it and keep moving. You'll
come to a gap with pick axes flying up and down. There will be another rock
that comes out of the background at the very edge. Avoid the rock and the
pick axes and jump the gap. Watch out for the Moon Mouse on the next ledge.
There will also be a flower here.

Jump the gap and move on. There will be another Moon Mouse followed by a
flower for health. Keep moving right, avoiding the Moon Mice and the pick
axes. When you see another flower, a rock will come out of the background
and a spike will fall from the ceiling. Jump the Moon Mouse and you will be
on a ledge with seemingly no where to go. There will be a flag if you drop
down, but don't do this. There is another way around. Wait for a few
seconds and a very tiny floating platform will come in from the right.

This next area is full of tiny platforms that require precision jumping and
timing. One miss and you will most likely die (unless you happen to land on
a previously visited platform). This is an area of much frustration and is
incredibly difficult. The following is a location of all platforms you need
to jump on and what direction to jump in.

Jump on the platform as you see it. Another one will appear on the right.
Jump onto it. Stay here until you see one come up from the bottom of the
screen on the right. Jump to it. There will be one down and to the left
when you ride the current one down. Jump to it. There will be one on either
side of you now. You can jump left to get that flag you saw earlier or jump
right to move on (either way, you have to move right from this position, it
is up to you whether or not you want the flag).

Jump to the right and you will see another one just below and right. Jump to
it and wait. One will come from the right in a slightly lower position than
the current one. Jump on it and ride it to the right. Grab the flag if you
want. When you get to the far right, a platform will come down from the top
of the screen. Jump to it and ride it up.

When it reaches its apex, there will be another platform on the left that
comes down. Jump to it. When it gets to the top, jump right onto the next
platform and then jump again to the next one on the right. From there, wait
until you see one come up from the bottom of the screen. Jump on that one
and ride it down as far as it will go.

When it reaches the bottom, there will be another one on the right you can
jump to. If you see a flag on the right side of you, you are in the right
place. Ride this one to the bottom and you will see another platform float
in from the right. Jump to it and ride it all the way to the right. You
will then see some stationary platforms. Jump on the lowest one and move up
to the third one (highest). Wait here until you see one come down from the
top of the screen on the right. Jump to it and ride it up.

There will be another one just to the right. Wait until your current
platform is higher than the one on the right before you jump onto it. Jump
to it and ride to its apex. Before you jump, look at the platform on the
left and notice how it is slightly larger. These large ones will fall once
Bullwinkle jumps onto them. They will drop slightly, rise up and then fall
completely. There will be several of these up and coming. When you jump
onto one, wait until it moves up before you jump off. You have to move
quickly when on these platforms, so be ready.

Jump to the falling platform on the left and jump left again once it bounces
once. You will then be on a stationary platform. There will be a moving one
that comes in from the left. Jump on it and ride it left. Jump off once it
reaches as far as it goes left. There will be a falling platform here which
you need to jump off of and land on another moving one on the left. Jump
left again and onto another falling one. Jump left again onto another moving
one. Ride it left and you will see a falling one down and to the left. Jump
there and jump up and left to another one and a third one before jumping left
onto a moving one.

Ride this one down and gather the flags. Ride it back up and jump off to the
right onto a stationary platform. You'll need to be careful in this area not
to jump too high. The spikes on the ceiling will kill you if you leap too
far into them. Jump right and land on a falling platform. Keep jumping
right and after three of them (and a moose berry or two) you will land on a
stationary one. Jump right again onto a falling one and keep jumping right
until you see a moving one on the right.

Jump to it and ride it all the way to the right. Another one will come on
screen from the right. Jump to it and ride it across until you see a
stationary one. There will be a flower to the right and a falling platform
right and down. Jump so you grab the flower (if you need it) and land on the
falling one. Jump instantly to the next falling one.

You'll be at the far right of the area now so fall with the platform until
you see two moving ones on the right. Jump to one of them and ride down.
Keep jumping back and forth between the platforms until you see a ledge on
the right you can jump to.

The ledge will have one of the Moon men on it (Either Gidney or Clyde, I
don't know which is which). They will fire energy beams at you which can be
avoided by jumping. The Moon Men can be killed by a solitary head butt or
five moose berries thrown at them. Move right and jump the gap to the small
ledge with the Moon Mouse on it. Disable it and watch out for the energy
beam from the next Moon Man on the other side.

Jump the gap and move right. There will be a bushel of Moose Berries which
you can grab. You will see a wooden structure on the right. This is the end
of the stage. There is a Moon Man hiding inside of it, so be careful as you
advance. Take him out and walk into the entrance to the next stage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 1-3: The Mine (RB1-3)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
In a cruel and sinister twist, this level is more difficult than the past two
put together. Bullwinkle finds himself in a mine cart that is speeding along
a track. While you can't stop the cart, you can slow it down by holding the
directional button that corresponds to the opposite direction Bullwinkle is
traveling. Essentially, if he is moving right, you can go slower by holding
the left button and vice versa. I suggest you hold onto the break as much as
you can, especially when you first play this level, as it is all memorization.
If you have played Donkey Kong Country, it is similar to the mine cart level
in that game, just more difficult.

You start out by moving right. You will go up a small hill and a bat will
appear above your head. Once you see the bat, duck. There will be a low
bridge that will take health away from you if you do not duck. Stay in the
ducked position until the two bats go past you and you drop down a small hill.

You will see some moose berries floating in the air. Jump and grab them
while at the same time leaping over a bat that will get you if you don't jump.
There will be two flags then the track ends. You will fall. Stay in the
cart until you see orange on the right side. Jump the instant you see it and
move right. You will land in a new cart and continue on to the right.

There will be another low bridge right after some Moose Berries, so duck
before you smash into it. You will then go down a hill and you will see
Natasha Fatale in the background. She will throw a bomb in front of you.
The bomb will come to rest on the tracks in front of you. The instant your
cart reaches the bomb, jump. The bomb will go off, launching the cart to the
other side and you will stay with the cart. If you stay in the cart, there
will be too much weight to make the gap and you will fall to your death.

You will then see a flag and the end of the track again. Fall with the cart
until you see the orange on the right. Jump out and land in the next cart,
grabbing a flower on the way. You will instantly reach the end of the track
and fall down. This time, look for the orange on the left side and jump left
as soon as you see it.

Press and hold the down button to duck. There will be six low bridges that
you need to avoid. There will also be bats in this area. After the sixth
low bridge, you will reach the end of the tracks and fall again. There will
be a flower you can grab if you are crafty.

Look to the right for the indication on when you need to jump. Jump right
when you see the orange and land in the cart. Instantly there will be a
flower you can grab, just before a lantern that falls and a low bridge.
Natasha will throw another bomb out in front of you. This time there will be
a few bats you need to avoid as you jump when your cart reaches the bomb.
Ride the cart to the end of the track, but this time don't drop down.
Instead, jump straight across and into a new cart.

There will be some Moose Berries you can grab. This is a great place to make
use of your breaks if you haven't up to this point. There will be gray rocks
in the ceiling that fall just before you reach them. Break just before them
so they bounce once in front of you. Release the brake and zip under them.
Break again before the next one. Repeat this pattern as you see them. Avoid
the next three bats as you see them and ride to the right. You will be taken
to the edge of the screen. From here on, if you die in this stage, you will
restart at this point, rather than at the very beginning of the stage.

You start out with Natasha throwing a bomb in front of you. Again, jump just
before your cart reaches it. There will be two low bridges and two bats
before you reach a rock that falls from the top. Again, brake just before it
so it bounces in front of you, then speed up and zoom under it.

Just after the rock, there will be a bomb on the tracks. Jump again so your
cart can make it across without you falling into the hole. There will be
another one immediately following so jump again and avoid the bats. Duck
below the three low bridges and you will reach the end of the tracks and fall.
Look for the orange on the left side of the screen and jump as soon as you
see it. Land in the cart and move to the left.

Watch out for the low bridges, the rock and the bats. There will be a flower
just after the low bridge, but a bat will come at you from the left as you
jump to reach it. Drop off the end of the tracks and look to the right for
the next cart. Move to the right and there will be a flower you can grab.
Immediately after there will be two rocks that fall. Break before the first
one, let it bounce and move under it. Break again and let the second one
bounce before moving under it.

Keep moving, avoid the bats. There will be two more rocks that you need to
avoid then the end of the track. Fall down and look to the left for a cart
to jump into. You will see Boris with a TNT shaft. He will press it down
once you pass, sending a spark along the track. Slow down and let it pass.
There will be a rock you need to avoid as well. Some Dynamite will be set
off and you need to jump before you reach the hole. You'll move left and be
taken to a new screen.

You'll reach the end of the tracks on the new screen almost instantly. Fall
with the cart and you will land on a wooden platform. Move right and you
will be taken to the boss.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 1: Boss (RB1-B)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first boss of the game is actually two. You will face Gidney and Clyde
together. They have the power of invisibility, and when cloaked, only their
eyes can be seen. They can also only attack and be attacked when visible.
They will float down from the ceiling, with only their eyes being visible.

They will float back and forth between the top and the bottom, periodically
appearing and firing an energy beam at you. They will only shoot when
visible, and only one will be visible at a time. When one becomes visible,
he will shoot an energy beam, so jump over it. Use all the Moose Berries you
collected from this level and shoot them. They each take five hits to die.
Once one is dead, the other will move left to right in addition to up and
down.

Stay in between them when there is two. Attack them evenly so that you will
have less to avoid when one dies. Once the first one is dead and the second
one comes at you, move under it and keep on the larger side of the screen
(essentially, be on the opposite side of it at all times). Once he is dead,
a bucket will come down (this contains the Upsydasium). Grab it and move
over to the doorway and you will be taken back to the main menu where you can
play another mini game or have the option to continue the main game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 2-1: The Mechanical Whale (RB2-1)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You start out inside of a boat. The boat moves on its own, similar to the
mine cart from earlier, except it moves slower and you cannot control the
speed in any way. You will notice that Rocky is in the boat with you. The
boat moves along at a slow pace, so feel free to jump and grab the Moose
Berries at the top.

Your boat will run into a floating barrel and just stop. Move Bullwinkle
onto the barrel and his weight will push it down into the water. Stay on it
until the boat moves forward, then quickly jump back to the boat.

As you move right, you will come to a gray structure that looks sort of like
netting. Bullwinkle cannot cross under this so he must jump onto it. Rocky
and the boat will move under it. Avoid the green flying fish and the water
drops and walk to the other side. The boat will stop at another barrel, so
if you don't make it before the boat, don't worry.

Jump back to the boat and push the barrel under water again to keep moving.
There will be another place you have to jump onto. This time there will be
metal pipe work that you need to climb up. Jump to the highest point you can
reach, then move right.

Drop down slowly and keep moving right. You will see another barrel in the
water, probably well before Rocky and the boat get there. Wait for Rocky to
arrive with the boat and stop at the barrel. The fish that jumps in an arc
takes two moose berry hits to kill.

Drop the barrel to continue right. The green fish that jumps in an arc takes
one hit to kill. You will come to another barrel that you need to drop in
order to continue on. There will be green and red jumping fish here (one hit
for green, two for red). Drop the next barrel and continue on once again.

Watch out for the water droplets coming from the red pipe. It hides behind
your health meter and is difficult to spot if you are not careful. When you
reach the next barrel, Natasha will pop up from a silver barrel on the right
and throw bombs at you. She throws three bombs, one close, one far and a
third one close before she disappears into her barrel. She will pop back up
and repeat the same pattern. Wait until she has disappeared and drop the
wooden barrel in front of your boat and move forward. As you approach her
barrel, she will pop up and throw bombs at you. Jump over these and wait for
her to return to the barrel. Stand on her barrel and push it under the water
so Rocky and the boat can pass.

You will come to another platform next. This platform has a hole in the
middle of it. There is a health flower in it which you can grab by jumping
onto the boat as it goes under the platform. Jump back to the platform and
go to the far edge. The boat will stop at a barrel and you can jump to it.
The red pipe will have a crack in it that shoots out steam that hurts
Bullwinkle if he is too close, so avoid it. Drop the barrel and continue on.

There will be two barrels next. Once you reach the first one, two fish will
fly in from the left. They each take two hits to kill. If you don't have
the moose berries, it is best to move fast and drop the two barrels. If you
have the Moose Berries, kill the bottom one and duck as the top one flies by.

Drop all the barrels and move on to the platform. Watch out for the water
dropping from the pipe. You'll have to climb up, as you cannot go past the
vertical pipe. Jump up so you are on the same level as the green rat (they
can be killed by one Moose Berry attack, wait until they stand on their hind
legs to attack). You'll be able to grab a flag over here, just under a
purple fish.

If you want, you can go back to the right along platforms and pipes and you
will find enough flags for an extra life. This is a dangerous trek because
there are several hazards, not to mention you can fall to your death. If not,
go back to the right.

Go back to the place where you first saw a green rat. From here, jump to the
left onto the pipe that is almost even with the current one (it will have a
small meter on it). Move left and drop of the edge onto the one just below.
Watch out for the steam coming out of the pipe in front of you. Time your
jump so you can get to the top of the steam pipe without getting hit. Watch
out for the purple fish and jump to the right, onto the pipe that is even
with Bullwinkle's mouth.

There will be a green rat in front of you. Either take it out of jump over
it. Continue to move right. There will be steam coming out of several
meters with a flag in front on it. Time your walk so you can move forward
without getting hit. You can duck to avoid being hit. Move past this and
jump the gap just to the right. There will be two water droplets that fall,
so watch out for them.

You'll see a green rat one level above you. Jump on that level, then back to
the left to move up one more. Keep moving up by jumping back and forth.
When you reach the top, you will see two purple fish moving in circles.
Avoid them, move to the right and drop down, avoiding the green rat as well.
Keep moving down, watching out for steam and water. When you reach the
bottom (a green rat will be here), move to the right.

Go as far right as you can and drop down and move back to the left on the
pipe below. Move all the way to the left and drop down. This is where you
will meet up with Rocky. If he isn't here, wait for him. Once he shows up,
drop to the boat. Watch out for bombs being thrown in from the right,

Drop the barrel under water and continue right. Again, you need to avoid
Natasha throwing bombs at you in sets of three. Push her under water once
you reach her and continue on.

You'll come to a red jumping dish and another pipe. You have to jump out of
the boat and onto the pipe. Stand on the valve and jump up to the next one.
Move up and then go to the right. You will enter a wooden structure (most
likely a ship). Move right. There will be windows which you can see
Bullwinkle trough. This will lead you to the next stage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 2-2: The Ghost Ship(RB2-2)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You start with a green rat in front of you. Quickly kill it and move right.
On the box there will be a bottle that is suddenly thrown at you. Move left
to avoid it, then go back and jump on the box. Jump up to the shelf above
the lantern, then move up through the hole.

Jump up as high as you can go to avoid the ghost. Walk across the shelf,
drop down and grab the flag. There will be bouncing items that can be best
described as peg legs that you need to cross. It is rather difficult to do so
without being hit. Try to stand in between each one and jump when they are
down. If you get hit, run for the hills and try to make it across during the
small amount of invincibility you have.

Move on to the right. There will be another ghost that you have to avoid.
Move to edge of the shelf and drop down, avoiding the ghost. There will be a
flower here. Drop down more, as far as you can go and there will be four
ghosts that materialize in each corner of the screen. Wait for them to
disappear and move on to the left.

Drop down, ki1l the rat and move forward, past the bouncing cannon ball.
Drop down and move back to the left and grab the flower if you need it. Drop
all the way down and move to the left, avoiding the bird and rat. When you
get to the far left and drop off the shelf, five ghosts will appear in a
pyramid formation around the flag. Avoid them, grab the flag and drop down.

Four ghosts will appear here. Avoid them and move right. Watch out for the
cannon ball that bounces around. Jump up to the shelf and go through the
hole in the ceiling. Jump up to the top shelf. Be aware of the ghost up
here. He shoots a projectile and doesn't disappear as frequently as the
previous ghosts. Drop down and head butt the flower to grab it and move to
the right.

Watch out for the ghosts as they materialize, move right, jump up and through
the hole. You will see two cannon balls bouncing. You cannot run under them
on the shelf they are on, because you will get hit. Stand on the edge of the
shelf below and wait for the second one to bounce, then jump up and under it
and land on the boxes on the right. If you time it correctly, you won't get
hit at all.

Watch out for the cannon with the fuse in it. It will explode when the fuse
burns up. Avoid it and move to the right. There will be a ghost that dives
down at you. Avoid it and the next several cannons. Keep moving right,
gathering up the flags and Moose Berries as you go. You can jump the hole
and find a flower if you want to risk birds, ghosts and cannons. Otherwise
drop into the hole.

Avoid the ghosts that materialize as well as the one that follows you down
from above. Move left and drop down. Watch out as more ghosts materialize.
Move as far as you can left and jump up through the ceiling. Move right,
killing the birds and the rats.

There will be several bouncing cannon balls on the shelf above you. Time
your movement so you walk under them and don't get hit. When you reach the
end and drop down, there will be another cannon and the ghost that was
chasing you will come back. Drop down the hole when you see it, or jump over
it and grab a flag after a couple more cannons.

When you drop down, move immediately to the left because a ghost will
materialize where you are standing. Move right and drop down again. There
will be more peg legs bouncing. Maneuver under them and drop off the end of
the shelf. Move back to the right. There will be a flower just before the
barrels and boxes if you jump up.

Move right and there will be more ghosts that materialize in a pyramid
formation. Stand in the middle and wait for them to dissipate. Jump to the
small shelf and move to the right and wait for them to appear and disappear
again before going through the hole in the ceiling.

Move up. There will be four ghosts that materialize in each corner as well
as two flowers to grab. Grab them, jump to the top shelf and move right.
There will be two ghosts that shoot, one high and one low. Avoid them, move
right and drop down through the floor. Drop down, move left, drop down, and
move right.

There will be a cannon ball bouncing back and forth on the shelf. Wait until
it bounces past the edge and jump up and run in front of it and drop off
before it reaches you. Drop all the way down and move left, avoiding the
ghosts. Grab the flower. Jump to the shelf, avoid the peg legs and the
ghost at the end. There will be another flower hiding within the boxes that
you can grab, but beware of the ghosts. Jump up and walk across the shelf.

Move over and drop down, avoiding the ghosts and cannon ball. Drop through
the floor, move right and drop down to move left. Jump up and go through the
ceiling. There will be another cannon ball bouncing back and forth on a
shelf. Wait for it to go behind you and jump up and run to the edge and drop
off. There will be a flower you can grab down here.

Jump up, avoid the cannon ball, and move left and drop down behind the pole.
Move all the way down. Go left. When you see the flower, hide under the
stack of three impassible boxes and wait for the ghosts to appear and
disappear before moving on. Jump up and go through the ceiling. Move right,
avoiding the cannon ball and kill the rat. Jump up through the ceiling.

Move to the right and avoid the cannon balls. Drop down, avoid the ghosts
and jump through the ceiling. This will *finally* bring you to the boss.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 2 Boss (RB2-B)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This boss is fairly easy. He appears as a small pirate that flies around the
screen and disappears at different times. He takes eleven Moose Berry hits
to kill. Attack him when he appears, stay in the middle of the screen when
he is missing. You can jump over him as he flies at you with ease. This
boss is very similar to the last boss, once there was one left. When you
kill you, you are taken back to the options screen where you can play a mini
game or move on with the main game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 3-1: The Town (RB3-1)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, you get to control Rocky. He is very similar to Bullwinkle, he just
does a tail spin rather than a head butt and is smaller. He throws nuts
instead of Moose Berries.

Jump the gap to the right and start your quest as Rocky. There will be an
enemy which you can kill with a tail swing. Keep moving right. Watch out
for the sword that comes at you from the left. There will be bouncing balls
on top of wooden crates that you need to avoid as well as a man with a
propeller who flies down at you.

Move right. When you see a green block come down, it will render you
motionless for a few seconds if you are standing on the ground. Jump just
before it hits so you can keep your movement. Jump over it and continue
right.

Boris will pop out of a Man hole and throw three sticks of dynamite. They
don't explode instantly, so avoid them. You can stand on the man hole cover
without harm. Wait until he throws them to the right and they explode before
continuing.

The Fearless Leader will come out of a window and shoot at you. The word
"BANG" is what he shoots. Avoid it because it will hurt you. Move right.
There will be more instances of Boris coming out of a man hole. Avoid him
and grab the nut bushel above him. Move right and watch out for an anvil
coming out of a window. Natasha will also throw bombs down at you at the
same time.

Continue right. You will eventually come to a large hole which you cannot
jump over. You now must use the window sills and door frames to jump up and
around it. It is important to keep moving right. It is wisest to go up as
high as you can so that if you miss a ledge, you will likely land on a new
one just below.

Avoid Natasha throwing bombs and the Fearless Leader shooting words at you.
If you stay at the top, you will come to an area with three rats and several
health flowers. Replenish your health here and keep moving right. You'll
also find enough flags to give you an extra life, assuming you do not die.

When you reach an edge where you cannot see anything to the right, jump as
far as you can off the edge. You will land next to a stack of boxes, in
between two bouncing black balls. Move right, avoiding the guys with the
propellers. You will come to a large dark door and the screen will fade,
taking you to the next level

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 3-2: The Last Level (RB3-3)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The game claims that this is the last level. I have to remain skeptical
though, considering how few levels there have been (although they are
extremely difficult). I suppose we will find out, once we reach the end.

You start out in the middle of two holes. Eventually, two skulls will come
out of the holes. Jump on one of them and you will be taken up. Watch out
not to fall off, because as the skulls move left to right, you will slowly
slip off. Stay in the middle. Watch out for skeletal hands coming out of
the wall and retracting.

You are screwed if you fall, so be very careful. You can jump between skulls
to grab flags and flowers. Eventually you will reach an area on the right
you can jump to. Jump as soon as you can. There will be a flower you can
grab for health.

When you move right, there will be a cage that falls and leaves several bones,
one of which can hurt you when it jumps. Jump past it and watch out for the
knives coming out of the bars in the wall. There will be a nut bushel where
you can grab several nuts that you will need. You will come to a hole with a
tiny white bar in it. You have to jump to the bar. Every time you land
there will be a bat that comes at you. Throw a nut at it to defeat it and
continue on.

You will come to a hole with a small pedestal in front of it. Jump on it.
There will be a spike thing that goes up and down on a chain. Wait until it
is at its apex and jump onto it. From there, quickly jump to the white bar
and jump again quickly, as it will fall.

You'll land on a small piece of red. There will be another spike thing past
a bone. Time your jump to land on it. Jump again, past the bat and another
bone and land on the floor. Move right and you will come to a flying head on
a pedestal. Use the pedestal to jump onto pf the book shelf. From there,
jump right to platform with a switch above it. Jump up and touch the switch,
then drop down to the book shelf. It will move and reveal a doorway. Enter
it and you will move to the next stage.

You need to use the skulls to move across. There will be bats and bones to
hinder you. There will also be several electric chairs that you can jump
onto. The chairs are safe as long as there is no visible electricity. The
electricity will move left to right, from one chair to another. Stay just
behind it so it won't sneak up on you. When you see two pedestals with a
green statue head on it, jump to the smaller pedestal and wait for the head
to go up before moving on.

Jump up to the little stone pieces you see sticking out of the wall. They
will crack and break under your weight, so you have to move fast. After a
few of the longest jumps you will ever see, there will be some skulls moving
back and forth. Jump on them. You will come to two chairs. Jump on them
and then jump to the pedestals to the right. Stand in front of the black
door and press up to enter.

You will come out in between two holes. You can jump left to grab two nuts
and a health flower. Move right. Avoid the bats. There will be a
guillotine that comes crashing down on you. Run under it so it doesn't hit
you and kill the bat immediately after. There will be a nut bushel just
before a large gap where you must leap onto small stone slabs again.

These slabs crumble and break under you, so jump fast. Land on the floor and
avoid the bat. Move under the guillotine and kill the next bat. Bats will
come out of the holes with the white bars across it. Once a bat comes out,
kill it then jump to the bar. On the first bar, you can duck and the bat
will fly over you. Jump to the next one and kill the bat. Jump again to get
to level ground. There will be another guillotine. Move past the barred
window with the knife protruding and you will see another floating statue on
a pillar.

Just like last time, use the pillar to jump to the book shelf, then jump to
the right onto a stone slab shelf. This time there are two barred windows
with knives above you. Wait until the knives retract, then jump up into the
middle of the fray and touch the switch. Land on the book shelf and it will
open up. Press up to go into the doorway.

Yet more fun awaits you here. There will be slabs of five skulls that are
chained together and will retract into one. Jump on it when it is extended
and stand in the middle, so when it retracts, you don't fall. Keep moving
left in this fashion.

You'll get to a green platform where you can stand without fear of falling.
From here, you must time your jump so you land on the moving skull and move
under the spiked board without getting hit. This is tough, so feel free to
sit and watch for a while, since there is no time and nothing to hurt you
while you stand there.

The next one will feature a slower moving spiked board which you must jump on
when it is at its lowest point, then quickly jump to the stationary skull
just to the left. The next set of five skulls will move around the far left
one. Jump to it, move to the left skull, kill the bat and wait for the next
one to be available to you. Jump to it and wait for it to extend left. Go
out left and jump up but don't go forward. It will cause the cage to fall
and you can avoid being hit.

Jump to the green platform and then to the skulls. Keep moving left. You
will eventually see one that goes up. Jump to it and ride it up. Jump to
the green platform and stop. If you die from here on, you will restart here,
which is excellent, because this stage is hard.

Move right. Use the skulls and avoid the first spike board. Use the second
spike board to reach the next skull. Be careful not to get squished as it
retracts. Jump to the green platform and hold. Drop to the moving skull
when the spike board starts to retract, so you can move under it without
being hit. Jump to the next skull and jump again. Grab the flower if you
need it. Land on the platform and hold.

Grab the nuts on the platform. Jump up as high as you can and fire them at
the two bats hanging from the ceiling across the gap. Once they are dead,
you are free to jump. Jump across and shoot the next several that come at
you. Two will wait until you jump to attack, so take them out before that
happens by jumping and attacking. Take a deep breath. Jump to the skull and
then to the next one.

Jump to the platform and grab the nuts. Jump straight up and fire three nuts
to kill the bats. Watch the skull platform to see where it rotates. Jump to
it and wait until it extends to the right to jump to the green platform. Use
the nuts to kill the two bats and jump to the skull platform when it extends
towards you. Jump to the next green platform and avoid the bats (they should
fly over you and not touch you). Use the nuts you gather to kill the two
bats hanging over the skull platform then jump to it when it is extended.

Wait until the platform extends to the right and you can easily jump to the
mobile skull. Jump to it and ride it across to get to the green platform and
FINALLY move on from this hard stage. This takes you to the boss.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 3 Boss (RB3-B)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
For some reason, Bullwinkle has been captured. It isn't explained how this
happens, since you just used him in the last level, but none the less, you
need to rescue him. This is the hardest boss I have ever played against.
There is no rhyme or reason to what you need to do. It took me over 60 tires
to finally figure it out, so here it is:

Bullwinkle will be in a cage on the right side of the screen and there will
be an executioner and Rocky on the left. Bullwinkle's cage falls
incrementally, rises slightly then falls further. There will be a large pin
that inches out each time he falls. If the pin falls out completely,
Bullwinkle will fall into the tar pit below.

To stop Bullwinkle from falling to his death, throw your nuts at the pin.
Each hit pushes it back in slightly. You need to collect as many nuts as you
can. You can drop down three levels, so you are even with the tar pit. You
cannot kill the executioner. He will only be stunned by nut throws.

You need to keep Bullwinkle from falling off the chain until he is near the
tar pit. You need to be on the bottom level, and have several nuts (at least
five).

When Bullwinkle is close to the tar, jump to the right of the tar pit. The
executioner cannot get you on this side. Use your nuts and attack the lock
on the cage. Each successful hit will cause the lock to jiggle slightly.
You must hit it five times before Bullwinkle lands in the tar. On the fifth
time, the lock will break and Bullwinkle will jump out of the cage, to the
side Rocky is on. A hat will come down from the sky. Grab it and the game
will end!

So finally, this is the end. I will have to say that this is the hardest
game I have ever played. Take a deep breath and watch the ending. There
will be a crack about the Game Boy version, then the game will reset.
Congratulations. You beat the game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mini Games (RBMINI)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are two mini games you can play. Beating one gives you an extra life.
You can only fail twice. On the third failure, the game will automatically
start. If you win, you gain a life and the game automatically starts anyway.
You have the option to play a mini game after beating each level. They are
both ridiculously hard, but are worth it for the extra life.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mr. Peabody and Sherman:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one is done on a static screen (meaning the screen doesn't move). There
will be a very large dragon on the right side of the screen and Mr. Peabody
will be riding it (he's the dog, long story if you are unfamiliar with the
cartoon). You control Sherman, the boy.

The dragon will spit fire balls down at you. You need to avoid these. After
five hits, you will die. It is best to stay right, and jump them when they
come at you. There will never be more than two fires burning at one time,
and usually, one goes out shortly after another one starts.

Mr. Peabody will throw sticks of bubble gum down periodically. Touch one and
Sherman will start chewing it. Press Y to release a bubble. Aim for the
dragon's mouth. If you hit it, the dragon will get gum caught in his teeth
and will not be able to spit fire. You need to hit him three times to kill
him. I don't know why a dragon dies after chewing gum thrice, but he does.

The dragon will move in circles, going counter clockwise. Sherman shoots gum
out at roughly a 45 degree angle. It is easiest to have a successful hit
when the dragon is closer to the ground. It takes a while to get three hits,
so keep at it, avoid the fire balls, and retreat under the dragon's neck if
you need to.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dudley Doo Right:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This one is even harder than the other one. Snidely Whiplash has tied up
Dudley's girlfriend (whose name escapes me at the moment) on train tracks and
intends to run her over with a steam locomotive. You control Dudley as he
rides his horse (whose name also escapes me) as they run in front of the
train to try and save her before Snidely runs her over.

This game is a little more straight forward, as you have to move quicker than
the train. You can slow down slightly by pressing left and speed up by
pressing right. You can jump using B and duck using down. There will be
many obstacles that you need to avoid by jumping and ducking. Every time you
hit one, Snidely comes closer with his train and will eventually hit you.

Stay in front of him, and take it slow. It takes a lot of practice to time
your jumps, and even more practice to learn the course. While this one is
more straightforward, it is harder and takes more time to complete.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Differences between versions (RBDIFF)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
While the games are virtually identical, there are a few differences, mostly
aesthetically, between the two versions. This is a small list of things.
Please note that I have not made it to the end of the Genesis version, so
there may undiscovered differences. Please e-mail any to me that you think
are worth noting.

--In the Genesis version, the screen resolution is different because there is
a bar across the top of the screen that contains health information and the
score.
--The SNES version has flag numbers listed at the bottom and Moose Berry/Nut
numbers listed at the top while the Genesis version has both at the bottom.
--In the Genesis version, the flowers disappear in reverse when your health
is adversely affected.
--There are only three planks in the first set on the bridge in the Genesis
version. There are four in the SNES version.
--The bubble gum in the Mr. Peabody and Sherman mini-game is different
between versions (Purple in SNES, Orange in Genesis).
--Boris's mountain climber outfit is differently colored between the two
versions.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
FAQS (RBFAQS)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: What is Rocky and Bullwinkle?
A: Rocky and Bullwinkle was originally a cartoon from the late 1960's and
early 1970's. It was a cartoon geared mostly towards adults, as it is full
of puns and jokes that most children do not get. It featured other cartoons
as well, such as Mr. Peabody and Dudley Doo Right.

Q: How do I beat X on Level Y?
A: If something is not covered in the guide, it is either because I haven't
finished the guide yet or I simply overlooked it. If something is missing
and it is in a part I already covered, please e-mail me and ask me. If it
has been more than 2 months since I updated and the guide is not complete,
please e-mail me and tell me to continue with the guide. I like to know my
work is used.

Q: How do I contact the author?
A: My e-mail is Arguro AT Hotmail.com You can use that address to talk to
me on MSN or use ArguroDeXill to contact me on AIM. I always leave both
online, even when I am not at the computer. Just leave a message and I will
get back to you if I don't respond right away. Please remember that I write
all my guides to help my fellow players and I am always willing to help
through e-mail or messenger.

Q: What is the highest score ever?
A: I am unaware of the highest score ever, but my highest score is 80,750.
If you have proof of a higher score, please send it to me.

Q: Where can I get this game?
A: This game is fairly common on websites such as Amazon and eBay. Either
version should be available for less than $5.00. I personally bought the
SNES version when it came out for $39.95 at a K-Mart.

Q: Are there any cheat codes to make this game any easier?
A: I know of absolutely no cheat codes. This game is extremely tough, and
it would be nice to have a level skip code or something, but as far as I know,
none exist. There are some Game Genie codes for the SNES version though.

Q: Why write for such an obscure and difficult game?
A: I like to write guides for games that have no guides available for them
anywhere on the internet. I do this because it gives me a since of
accomplishment that I beat someone and documented it as I did so that no one
else has done. The way I look at it, if no one has written for it, I am not
only the first to write, but the first to beat it.

Q: Can I host this guide on my website?
A: Short answer: NO. Long answer: see the copyright section for more
information. I am very picky about who I let and do not let use my guides.
If I get a generic, automated request, I will instantly deny it. I want to
know that you like my work and that you found it useful. If you can't prove
to me that you like my work and want to host it for that reason, I will
instantly deny you.
