You have to stand in the right spot in Bedoe after you
fight the cliff monsters in order to get him later. He's a
fairly weak overall fighter, but can fly.

You have to save him as a small bird in Bedoe. To do that you have to stand left of the entrance near some bushes. If it is the right spot you are treated with a short sequence where the bird falls down and crashes into you.
Long after that he joins but he is already promoted (Bird Battler) and he is fairly weak, however, he tends to gain some pretty nice lvs very VERY late in his career. Since you have plenty of fighter class chars it's up to you whether he's worth it or not.
