"Best oldschool game ever."
This used to be my favorite game when I was a kid, and I'm proud to say that it still is one of my favorites.
Graphics: 9/10
For Sega graphics, these aren't bad at all. You can easily tell what everything is; whether it's a ghost, some gold, or a merchant trying to sell you something. There is lots of colors in this game also, which isn't bad for the little Genesis.
Music and Sounds: 9/10
These sounds are so cool. There is lots of noises in this game that are pretty sweet for the time this came out. Whenever you pick up food, you are greeted with a nice sound from your stomach. Whenever you use a potion, you hear a magiclike sound.
Gameplay: 10/10
Perfect gameplay. You can't beat this. Up to 4 player hack and slash. The modes in this game are arcade, story, and battle mode. Arcade mode is basically seeing how far you can get just playing regular levels. Arcade mode is essentially endless, I've gotten in the mid 100's, and still no end in site. Story mode basically takes you through the story of the game. Battle mode lets you face up to 3 of your friends in an arena to see who is the gauntlet champ! There is 4 characters in this game, each with their own stats and weapon use.
Story: 10/10
Awesome, and very old school. You have to fight through the four elemental towers: Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth; and defeat their respective dragon. After you defeat the dragon and release the seal in each tower, you are granted access to the Castle. That's about it for the story.
Controls: 10/10
Very easy. Even my parents can play this because the controls are so simple. There is basically 3 buttons to press. You can attack, use potions, and use rings. Attacking, well, that's self-explanitory. Potions kill deaths and enemies. And rings have various effects.
Overall: 10/10
This is my favorite hack and slash game of all time, and one of my favorite old sega genesis games. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Buy/Rent/Skip
Saying as you can't rent it anymore, I'll recommend buy.
