Phantasy Star II
Review by Jeromec
"Quite cool"
Quite difficult to write a sequel to a game such as the original Phantasy Star, king of the 8-bit RPGs.
The Sega folks have managed to create new standards with this historical game. Always set in the strange Algol star system, where people fight eclectively with a choice of swords, laser bazookas and boomerangs, among other, this episode starts on the Algo planet, formerly a desert but completely terraformed into a green paradise by the benevolent computer mother brain. Those who think it's a good name for a bad guy have a good point, and those who think that the Dark Force is behind all this, since the story takes place 1000 years after the original episode, are familiar with the series!
This game features many distinctive and original characters (the Biologist, the Mechanic... ), the most memorable being the beast girl Nei, whom the hero rescued when she was young. Without spoiling the game, there is a scene during which Nei meets her evil counterpart in the Bio System Lab is a definite part of the console RPG mythology and for that alone any serious RPG player MUST play this game!
