Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom
Review by NTrucks
"Can't Sega spell "Fantasy" correctly???"
Graphics-4 Uninspired graphics that make me wanna wretch. I know this was made before RPG's were mainstream, but it seems as if everything was drawn by a drunken sailor on a beer stained cocktail napkin. Ok, maybe I'm overeacting, but the artwork isn't anything to go nuts about, I'm sorry. Poor animation (even for a 16-bit Genesis RPG) is just sad.
Sound-1 I really truly have to shake my head at the sounds as well. Sometimes it seems as if they were designed to come out of a PC speaker, and you know how wonderful they sound. The music is ultra repetitive, everywhere. The dungeon ballad is about 30 seconds long, sounds bad, and you have to listen to it for 5 minutes at a time sometimes. Enough to drive anyone nuts.
Control-5 Nothing to write home about. You really don't NEED precision control for this kind of game, since you're not jump from one precarious ledge to another. It is adequate.
Gameplay- Have you all seen Star Wars episode I? If you have, then you know hat I'm talking about. Darth Maul has more lines in that movie than there is dialogue in this ENTIRE game. All you do is go from one place to another, then back to this place, then off to this place fighting pallette swapped enemies as you go. All in all I'd say Final Fantasy is about 100 times better than this piece of garbage.
