Zero Tolerance
Review by RHunter
"Average Doom Clone"
Zero Tolerance was one of the many, many (many) games released in the mid-1990's as a clone to Wolfenstein 3-D. Game companies figured they could rack in the dough by marketing their look-alikes to people who had already beaten the original game.
Zero Tolerance has one of the most detailed, articulate stories every in a video game - aliens are attacking the allied space station and you have to shoot everything in sight. As I hope you can see, that first line was a joke - there basically is no story to this game!
You begin the game using only your fists. As you progress through the game's three worlds, you gain such weapons as lasers, flame throws, and fire extinguishers, along with the usual assortment of guns.
Enemy encounters in Zero Tolerance seem quite unrealistic some times. The graphics in the game are dark, and occasionally it looks as if a baddie has just stepped out of the walls to attack you.
The Sound effects are done well. You can hear yourself walking and firing your weapons. The graphics are not very good, and quite dark, making it hard to see things.
Control in the game is actually quite well done. Just glance at the manual and you'll know what to do. However, sometimes it can be quite frustrating when you can't turn quick enough to dodge rear attacks.
Despite it's flaws, Zero Tolerance is still a fun game to play. Worth a look if you've played everything else.
