"You would think that Mr.X is a crippled by now (after all that beating)"
I don't think Sega was really paying attention to what they were doing when they made this game. I mean yeah it had it's high points but I just don't like it for some reason. I would say that the Streets of Rage series went the opposite path of Final Fight. Streets of Rage started out good but then to being just an ok game. Final Fight on the other hand (in my opinion) didn't start out as a fun beat em series but ended as a fun beat em up series. Anyways the storyline is: Mr. X is some how still alive and is now making robots. He also has the chief justice as a hostage and you must save him. Max is gone but you are now joined by an old man named Zan.
Game play 9/10: The only real good part about the game. Like always you go around beating up thugs. The game probably has the most unique type of thugs as they throw every thing from last two games plus some more. You not only fight thugs but now you fight robots and nicely dressed men. The weapons that you can use don't change. The game has two hidden characters in the game besides the 4 starting characters. The two extra characters are a kangaroo and Shiva (Mr. X's old body guard). Each of the 4 starting characters can also earn stars now that extend their attacks or damages. The game also has a split path type of story line now which is kind of neat.
Controls 8/10: The controls are exactly like the ones used in Streets of Rage 2.
Music 4/10: I think this would be the reason why I kind of hate the game. I don't like any of the music for any of the stages (except for one of them).
Length 6/10: Two words describes this part: Too long. The game has close to like 30 stages. It is probably the longest game out of the entire series. Also since there are different paths you can take, it will take you 2-3 times run though with it to completely beat it.
I would say that if you really need to know the game ends then get it. If not then don't since you are not really missing much. Hopefully the Sega Ages version of this game does not suck as much as this one.
