""Whoa!" "'Roast Em!" "Ha-ha!" "I'm Rockin'!""

Right around the millennium, I purchased Vectorman for a measly 3 dollars at a local Buy-Way. Boy did I not regret that purchase. Vectorman is one of the best games on the Genesis, and one of the best games Sega has ever made. Game play will clue us into the world that is Vectorman.

Game play: 10/10

Simplistic controls and game play for a game that is actually quite tricky. You start out on the title screen where you can move around and shoot with Vectorman. Neat! Once you press start, you then move on to the opening titles, and start the game. Vectorman is a tricky game that can be quite easy once you have enough experience. Certain jumps require the booster, certain enemies can only be hit in certain spots, etc. The game is great fun though, as each level is unique and has its own unique attributes, as well as the extra items that you may pick up (be it health replenishment, weapon changes, or multiplyer bonuses). One great feature in Vectorman is that Vectorman himself can change into a variety of objects, from a car, to a bomb, to a rocket. On to the story, which is also dynamite.

Story: 8/10

Funny, all three games I've reviewed today take place in the future. Vectorman is a garbageman, who sends waste off into the sun. When the head of a company (a robot) decides to take over the world, Vectorman must stop him by defeating him. Its a short, but good story that sets up a great game. Next up are graphics.

Graphics: 10/10

Easily a top 5 Genesis game graphics-wise, Vectorman pushes the Genesis to the limit graphically. Vectorman looks great, the levels are brilliant eye-candy, and the enemies are quirky! When the screen fades from the level to the bonus levels (should you make it to them), Vectorman gives off a great glow, and it looks so cool. Sounds are next; another winner.

Sounds: 10/10

Excellent music is found in Vectorman, catchy and easy listening tunes. Sega even released a music CD with all of the music from the game, so you know its good. The sound effects are great as well. There is also a sound effect for everything in the game, from the enemies angry grunts, to (as you can see from my tag-line) Vectorman's quotes, everything has a sound. Is this game replay-able though?

Replay ability: 9/10

This game is quite tricky, thus its hard to beat at first, but eventually you will get the hang of it. Aside from cheating there is no way to progress in the game from where you left off, thus you must start from the beginning every time you turn on the system.

Buy or Rent?

No chance of renting Genesis games, thus your only hope is to buy. Vectorman is a great game though, definitely worth your money.

Vectorman is a superb game that anyone with a Genesis would be foolish not to own. Wht isn't there to love? The game has it all, good graphics, good music, excellent game play, the list goes on. "Good job... Now, try beating the game without cheating!"
