"The best console game ever. 'Nuff said."
Yes, my friends. This is the best console game I have ever had the pleasure of playing through repeatedly. Anyone who doesn't enjoy this is just crazy. Let's begin, shall we?
Graphics 10/10
These are probably the best two dimensional graphics I have ever laid eyes on. I don't think Genesis graphics will ever be any more realistic. Perhaps games like Vectorman are purdier, but alas, not more realistic. I mean, they look like they're from photos. And the Aerosmith guys... wow. I mean, wow. I never thought that sixteen bits could deliver such realistic imagery.
Sound 10/10
First of all, the music in this game is great. It may not have lyrics, but it's Aerosmith music. As it turns out, I like it better without the lyrics. You will be motivated to whistle along with the tunes. They're great. Not only that, but they fit the game like a glove. Oh, but that's not all. The digitized speech is quite bountiful for the Sega Genesis. Also, it is outstanding. The Aerosmith voiceovers sound just like the real thing, and the one line that a NON member gets fits his personality great. The gun is pretty bland unless you get the Supergun, but I wouldn't want the gun drowning out those great tunes anyway.
Control 10/10
You'd think that the lack of a gun would completely ruin the game, despite everything up there. Thankfully, it doesn't. The control is the best I have ever seen for a lightgun game, sans a mouse or gun. I don't mind the lack of a gun. The speed up key makes long distances a breeze and the normal speed is just perfect for zeroing in just a bit. If you buy an arcade stick like I did, it will be even better.
Story 10/10
The New Order Nation (NON), lead by the alluring Headmistress Helga wants to end fun. They also want to run a tyranny. They are kidnapping teenagers, poisoning food, kidnapping Aerosmith, locking up strippers and just causing all around madness. Enter you, an unnamed guy, to save the world from this evil force. Sure, it sounds silly, but it's great for this game. Also, there are a few secrets to find out about NON....
Mood 10/10
This game's silly, yet sometimes somewhat dark mood inspires me. It can't be explained, I just love it.
Gameplay 10/10
Great. I've had the game for, what, 6 years now? I still play it frequently and with just as much vigor as I did when it was fresh out of the box. This game doesn't demands that you learn stupid practices or spend hours for the game to actually become fun. That is exactly why it's well worth your time. It starts off fun and stays that way for a very long time. The replay value is nearly limitless, as is the thrill of playing this game. Who could honestly forget the first time they saw the... interesting... options screen? Or the first time they shot a NON Boy off the toilet? I sure can't.
Challenge High
It took me about a year to get to the final boss, and I only beat her without cheating (I wanted to see the end... :Þ) recently. And I still have only found one of my wings...
