Ghouls 'n Ghosts

"Hard? yes Fun to play? yes"

Okay let us some things straight here, I never played the original Ghosts'n'Goblins only the sequel Ghouls'n'Ghosts so unlike my other reviews that are on sequels I' am not going to make references to the first game and treat it like this is your first time playing a G'n'G game. Well I hope that clears some things up so lets get on with the review shall we.

Gameplay
You are the knight Arthur as you try to save the princess(in other words this is the same plot you've heard in many of the Mario games). This game is hard and I just don't mean later on I mean from beginning to end here. At maximum Arthur could take two hits and then he is dead and it is very easy to get hit. Thankfully the hard difficulty does not ruin the gameplay that much and call me crazy but I think the hardness made the game more fun. You can also find the magic armor which can charge up the current weapon you have Megaman style and then causes a powerful attack on your foes but don't think it makes things easier because one hit and you have to find it all over again.

Graphics
The graphics are good for an early Genesis game. The levels you are in look detailed including this one stage which is a whole city on fire. The characters look nice as well including the big bosses you fight at the end of a level.

Control
Both the A button and the C button allows you to jump and the B button allows you to use the current weapon you have. Even though the game is hard the controls are easy to learn.

Sound
Man I think some of the music here just sounds done right evil and haunting I mean some of it sounds like something you would hear in a horror movie. Sound effects are good like the sound of Arthur's sword or his daggers. One more note you better get used to the sound of your armor shattering because you are going to hear that a lot.

Replay
Unless you are the kind of person that despises hard games then yes there is replay value. When it seems like you have beaten the game in reality it turns out well I' am not going to spoil that so that's for you to find out.

Final Word
This game is good and it proves that even if a game is very hard that does not mean it can still be enjoyable. The last thing I want to say is that if you are not a very patient person and get seriously mad at cheap shots then I don't recommend this but if you are not like that then go ahead and try it if you didn't.
