King Salmon: The Big Catch
Review by MMeader
"Quite Possibly The Best Fishing Game Ever!"
GAMEPLAY = 8 King Salmon's gameplay is excellent. The controls are very easy to learn and I caught on fast. The boat driving section of the game is awesome. All you have to do is look out for other boats. There is so much you can do like change between a bunch of lures and depth settings. But the fishing scenes are what takes the cake. These have superior graphics and well above normal 32 bit game graphics. The actual bringing the fish in will be hard to some until you get your guys strength and stamina up a little, but there is nothing like landing a big one in this game. Also when you latch onto a shark you know it. They will usually pull all the line out of your reel. This game is so fun. I could just sit and play it over and over again. The game itself in the beginning is not hard but in the later levels you need some big fish to stay in the game.
STORY - This game doesn't really have a story behind it. Unless you think a guy going fishing in the morning is a story.
AUDIO/VIDEO = 9 The music in this game is so catchy. The boat scene music is the best by far. Every time I hear the music I'll hum it the rest of the day. Now I know lots of people will bash Sega for its bad sound but I think this game is an exception. The graphics in this game are astounding. The fishing screens in general can't be beaten. The boat screens are a little far away, but this is to be expected because it is supposed to be an aerial view. When you are fighting a big fish in this game you are on the edge of your seat. During the fish fighting scenes sometimes the fish will get into an obstacle. Like the fish is taking out line, or the hook is loose, or the fish is diving. Then you will have to choose the correct choice to keep it from getting away. Examples are like, pull up on the rod, or tighten the drag. Sometimes the fish even head toward other boat props. This is especially dangerous. Well anyway the Audio and Video in this game rule.
REPLAY VALUE= 10 In this game their are always new fish to catch and new sharks to try to catch. This game never gets old and the music is so catchy you want to play to just hear it again. Like I said this is the best Sega Fishing game ever made.
RENT OR BUY? I would say definitely buy. If you are a fan of fishing you have to get this game. To me this is the BIG CATCH! The best damn fishing game ever made. This is a rare game so you would probably have to do some looking to find a copy of one. This game is well worth $20 bucks. King Salmon is the catch of my life. I hope it is yours to. Go buy this game!
