Beavis and Butt-head

"Shut up, Beavis, I'm writing a review!"

I always thought Beavis and Butthead were kind of funny, but I never liked them too much. But, when I found out they had a game for Genesis, I rushed out and rented it. After that, I bought it.

Gameplay: 9

This game is more fun than I expected when I first played it. I expected some sort of Sonic the Hedgehog game where you just walk through each level and make it to the end. Wow, I was in for a surprise. I have never seen a game like this before. You actually have to choose between different locations to go, and you have to pick up items to use for other locations, and they somehow end up as a ticket piece in your hand. I would even consider this a mini RPG. The controls are weird at times, since you have to press start a lot of times to use items or select weapons. The difficulty is very high. If you make one mistake, go to one place out of turn, or forget to pick up an item, you can completely destroy all hopes of winning the game.

Sound/Music: 10

This is one of those extremely rare cases when I give the game noise a 10. Why is this? I kind of like the music in this game. It's not high-pitched, annoying, or repetitive. OK, it's kind of repetitive, but it's not a bad repetitive. The sound is cool, like Beavis' laugh, or the sound of the bomb exploding. All in all, this is one game you won't have to worry about wearing earplugs.

Graphics: 9

This is your typical Genesis graphics with a lot of cartoonish Beavis and Butthead surroundings. What's cool about this game is that there isn't any glitchs or bad graphics that should hinder your gameplay.

Story: 9

An awesome story which fits right into a Beavis and Butthead episode. They buy tickets for a GWAR concert, and they are walking home when suddenly Tom Anderson's dog chews them up and his lawnmower blows them all over the town. Beavis and Butthead can't miss the concert, so they go all over town and find the pieces. Points off for this story, because I don't think they're smart enough to find 8 ticket pieces scattered in a big city. But, that's just my opinion...

Replayability: 7

Well, once you play the game through once, and you know where everything is, then you'll actually cut about 2 hours out of your second gameplay. By the third time, you can beat it in 20 minutes. After that, throw it back in the closet for a few years. If you're lucky you'll forget where everything is and the replayability meter will restart.

Overall: 9

You could probably get this game for about 2 bucks at a used videogame store. If you can, buy it, dust off your old Sega Genesis, and give this game a try. But don't if you don't have a lot of time on your hands. Hehehe, I said ''butt''...
