"An arcade conversion racing to genesis..."

Outrunners was released in 1994, from the ever so popular, arcade game. Sure, the release wasn't perfect, but it managed to be same game. Too same.

Story= Actually, there isn't much of a story, but only you choose 8 different cars, from their differnet nations, and race in a world tour! World tour, you say? Race among the many popular cities of the world, to San Francisco to Tokyo, to Hong Kong to Cairo, and France to South America, so get up and get ready to race!!!

Graphics=6/10

They tried to keep the games graphics arcade perfect, so you'll notice the game's split screen effect. It doesnt go away. Ill tell you about that later. The graphics are nice and colorful with lots of spunk. The cars are drawn nicely keep its arcade flavor, and you'll be able to recongize what cities or country your driving in.

Sound=7/10

Straight from the arcade board, it maintains its cool, nice background music. The music in-game is ok, but gets annoying after a few. But its still cool. There is a radio button you can press to change the bgm, or you can keep it on its default radio setting. The radio, just plays music according to what city your in, and changes when ever you exit or enter a differnet city. You can also control how loud, or soft you want the sound effects or music to be.

Control=6/10

I gave the controls the average score, because basically its a racing game, and racing games are simple. The controls are A=change music, where you can change the in-game music when you are in first place,B=accelerate,and C=to brake. The brake button is never used, and isn't useful since your beating the clock. At tight turns your find yourself holding left and right for moments, and at the end of the race, you have a big B on thumb.

Gameplay=6/10

This racing game is I think the 2nd sequel to the Outrun series, and will stick to that fact of gameplay. The gameplay racing matter is basically you race against the clock, as you come across a checkpoint to gain more time, and to choose what road you'd like to take. Their are many paths to different cities to take, so there replay for ya. The only problem is that the game is too short. It will take you at least 5 minutes to get through. Plus the split screen is acually around the whole game. You cant get rid of it in a 1-player game. The other screen is for the computer to see,..I meant for you. I think the reason the this game is to tour the cities and to have fun. But that fun fades away.

Replay=7/10

You might wanna see different paths you go, and try the other cars. There are over 30 stages, so go explore.

Overall=6/10

Well, this is a above mediorce racing game, really. You can try it out at the most, but not worth the husle. You'll go of selling it.

The Good= Many stages, cool cars
The Bad= short original mode that makes no sense
The Ugly= Split-screened game...ugh.
