OutRunners

"This is one of my favorite racing games"

Outrunners for the Sega Genesis was my first racing game when I got my Genesis in 95', and I still play it every day. Blah blah blah blah blah. Enough talking. On to the review.

Graphics: The graphics for Outrunners are pretty good. They are colorful and the cars look great.The buildings look okay, but they could have been a little better in my opinion.

Control: The control for Outrunners is simple but effective. B to go, C to brake, control pad to steer. All the cars pretty much have good steering.

Audio: I like the music in this game! The music is different depending on where your racing, so there are lots of different tunes to hear! Not to many sounds thought. They have your basic tire screeches and smash sounds when you hit stuff, so this lowers the score for this category a little bit. 8

Gameplay/Other: Gameplay is the most important part of a game, so its good that Outrunners gameplay is good!
Like I said earlier, the controls are simple, but this doesn't make the game bad. There are lots of different courses and cars, so this game won't get boring that fast if you want to find all the short cuts and listen to all the songs. But my favorite part of a racing game is the cars, and Outrunner doesn't disappoint here. You nine different cars, ranging from dune buggies to Volkswagens to Porsches, each with different acceleration, top speed, and handling.
Personally, my favorite car is the pink Cadillac. Nothing more fun then going down the road in your pink Caddy going 260 mph, or going well over 200 mph in a topless Volkswagen.

Pros: The graphics are nice and colorful.

Good replay value if you want to find all the shortcuts and listen to all the songs.

Good control.

Plenty of cars and courses to race on.

Good tunes.

Great crashes. When you crash your people fly out of the car and land back in when the car stops flipping.

Cons: Not to many secrets.

If you like realistic racers your going to hate this. (Most cars can go over 260 mph)


Rent/buy: If you are a racing fan, i'm sure you'll like this game. Even if you don't you might want to give it a try.
It's worth the 5-10 bucks that most of the places that sell it sell it for.

I give Outrunners 9 out of 10 for being one of my favorite racers of all time!
